The Browns are in 4 Primetime games this year LOL.

Of their remaining games half are either primetime or later afternoon games.

A lot of people are gonna be stuck watching the Browns this year.

Would you rather watch the Browns or Miami, the Jets, Giants, Bills, Bears, Steelers, Bengals....

The young QB are functionally stupid compared to the guys coming in a few years ago. Part of the problem is college coaches are dont teach them poo poo, and then you got troglodyte idiots in the NFL like brian schottenheimer and jeff fisher who don't teach them either.

Calling plays and audibles at the line is a semi lost art as a result.

the nfl's generation of bad, hard-to-watch young qbs such as pat mahomes, deshaun watson, lamar jackson, jacoby brissett, and hell even gardner minshew

Mahomes: Amazing
Watson: good, but not gonna live long because what is an OL
Jackson: Pump the brakes real hard here. Beating the poo poo out of the Dolphins doesn't mean much this year. Gonna need to see sustained success
Brissett: Nothing special
Minshew: Stash is rad. Want to believe but Jacksonville is where QBs go to die

Most of the QBs in the league are bad, young and already suck, or young and going to suck because their situation is awful.

Finding a QB is hard

To expand on this more:

Young guys:
Mitch Trubs: Sucks
Josh Allen: Sucks
Jameis: Sucks
Sam Darnold: Could be good, but also shackled to the Jets
Kyler Murray: Looks really promising, hopefully he doesn't die behind that line.
Jones and Haskins: TBD

in the middle:
Wilson: Amazing. Team doesn't know what forward pass is though
Wentz: Good, can't stay healthy
Jimmy: Good, hasn't stayed healthy
Newton: lovely QB, good runner. Also looks cooked now because he's taken a beating
Derek Carr: sucks
Dak: Ok. Hovering just above the Dalton line
Goff: Both good and a system QB.Good arm, 10 cent head
Matt Ryan: Solidly above the Dalton line, kinda inconsistent
Dalton: Definition of average
Stafford: Above dalton line, kinda inconsistent.

Older guys:
Rodgers: Slowly declining, still good. This may change though as he escaped from Fat Mike.
Cousins: Playing like poo poo this year, historically good.
Ben: Hurt. Future TBD
Eli: sucks, benched
Brees: Hurt. Still playing at top level, but who knows what happens now with his hand injury.
Brady: Still playing well, slowly declining. Also old AF

PupsOfWar posted:

you guys cant even decide whether jared goff is good or bad

how then can we surmise on the overall state of qb play in the league

Goff is the perfect example of a system QB. He can physically make the throws, he is just an idiot. He looked like poo poo with Jeff Fisher cause well, it's Jeff Fisher. With McVay telling him what to do and where to aim the cannon the results are much better. He's also in an actual modern offense instead of whatever the 70s nonsense Jeff Fisher believes in

Don't forget Baker, who is going to be ruined by Freddie Kitchens

Baker is really good, but this year doesn't look so hot yet. I thought Cleveland should have hired a real coach for a few reasons, but maybe the offense would still be OK. Unfortunately the offense looks like poo poo so far, and Kitchens has no control over the team and they are undisciplined as poo poo

Thought experiment: 32 Patrick Mahomes, each assigned to a team, or 32 Andy Reids, each assigned to a team. Which results in better offensive play?

Andy Reid because look what he did with Alex Smith lol. Mahomes would be handing off on some teams, or running for his life on others

People who say Eli shouldn't be in the HoF aren't joking. We've been saying that he was a future undeserving hall of famer for a few years now around here. He's as average (well, slightly below) as they come. He has a career of compiled mediocrity.

He's not as good as either Ben or Rivers, his direct peers. He also can't stack up against the top QBs of his era at all.

Can someone explain the purpose of scripted plays? Isn't it objectively worse to deny yourself any flexibility?

They gameplan during the week and you can adjust your attack based on how your predetermined gameplan works or doesn't.

I think it's kinda stupid too but NFL coaches do a lot of weird things because reasons
