Jimmy Fallon is responsible for Rob and Sandra's TC shack

quote:

The Tonight Show host and Saturday Night Live alum is a noted Survivor fan, whom Probst has credited in the past for coming up with the premise for Survivor: Second Chance, a season in which fans voted players back onto the show. Speaking with THR through email, Fallon says he's constantly pitching Probst on new Survivor twists.

"Jeff probably regrets giving me his email after he was on my show a few years ago," writes Fallon. "I use it all the time. I will have ideas in the middle of the night and just shoot off a short email and say 'Is this anything?' Now and then he'll respond with: 'This email is no longer in use.' But I know he's reading them!"

According to Probst, Fallon's pitch for a top-secret voting booth first landed in his inbox about two or three years ago. "We thought it was a great idea, but we could never make sense of it," he says. "Why would you bring a player back to secretly spy on Tribal? We weren't sure about it. When the [Island of the Idols] idea took flight, we thought this was the time. This is when we can use the secret Jimmy Fallon viewing booth — the Fallon Booth."

From a design standpoint, the so-called "Fallon Booth" is the centerpiece of the season's Tribal set, the point of origin from which dozens of different but similarly designed huts were conceived and built by longtime art department guru Dax Pointon and his team.

Shannon Gaitz on RHAP made the good point that Rob and Sandra are not really helping you. They are more producers than mentors on this season, they are trying to make the best TV. Once the initial shock of 'OMG this is Boston Rob and Sandra' wears off, the players should keep that in mind.

That's not 'officially' confirmed but seems likely given what we know. We may never know. Maybe in 5-10 years either Boston Rob or Sandra will blab how much they got paid for S39.

I feel like there is gonna be resentment from the other S40 winners about BR and Sandra getting preferential treatment. The conspiracy theories are gonna be running wild if either of them or Tyson or Amber get a HII.

'In mid-March, the cast for season 39 flew out to Fiji for the Island of the Idols. “Boston” Rob Mariano and Sandra Diaz-Twine also departed to take part in the season as “mentors.” It’s believed that Rob and Sandra had already committed to participate in season 40 before leaving – whether their roles in season 39 were part of the deal remains unclear.'

Ya it's been enough seasons now that you should prepare for something of the sort especially if htey just got back from Gimmick Island. Whereas say Dan getting screwed by the Idol Nullifier in David vs. Goliath I don't really blame him for because who the gently caress could have predicted that.

Now that she survived until the merge, there is a great chance that Karishma is with us until the F3

It's not even in question, in my mind. I obviously have no idea how the rest of the season goes, but I wouldn't have faulted producers for just ending the season abruptly. It's completely hosed. There's nothing that makes me want to continue watching because I know Janet is on borrowed time.

Yeah to me, a win by just about anybody feels hollow because it was the product of a Survivor season where allegations of sexual harassment and inappropriate touching were weaponized and used against victims, and people who tried to stand up for them were manipulated and gaslit about it. I mean, someone will win season 39, but I don't even care anymore.

In news that will surprise no one CBS and Mark Burnett gave a mealy-mouthed statement that says a whole lot of nothing

quote:

CBS and producer Mark Burnett’s company (MGM, of which he is the chairman of worldwide television) have issued a joint statement, which follows:

“In the episode broadcast last night, several female castaways discussed the behavior of a male castaway that made them uncomfortable. During the filming of this episode, producers spoke off-camera to all the contestants still in the game, both as a group and individually, to hear any concerns and advise about appropriate boundaries. A formal warning was also given to the male castaway in question. On Survivor, producers provide the castaways a wide berth to play the game. At the same time, all castaways are monitored and supervised at all times. They have full access to producers and doctors, and the production will intervene in situations where warranted.”

Ok, you're Mark Burnett. What do you do instead of what he has done?

I typed out a long response but accidentally refreshed the page which unfortunately removed my entire post. To make it short I would like to see a statement that more proactively talks about how production will ensure that a situation like this never happens again, i.e. by clarifying the protocol by which players can be removed from the game for sexual harassment/assault, and/or steps to do this:

https://twitter.com/KassMcQ/status/1194818235318853632

I didn't get the sense from the statement that production feels like they did anything wrong. And well CBS and Mark Burnett do not get any benefit of the doubt from me on these sorts of matters.

I actually think lost in all this Kellee probably made a couple of big game mistakes dismissing Tommy's ideas for an alliance and lying to Missy and letting Lauren go to her. She seemed to take Tommy and Lauren for granted as OG tribemates and while she was right not to want Tommy's idea she obviously could have played that better instead of just shutting him down. Kellee screwed up and the vote flipped on her. She then screwed up and didn't use an idol. And the sleaziness around it all overshadowed that.

The game just got all overshadowed by the sleaze but I'm willing to give most of those people the benefit of the doubt that Kellee just misplayed them and lost their votes and the Dan thing was on their periphery.

I got a bad vibe actually when after last episode Kellee made a move against Jack because he was a big threat, then this week she started gunning for Missy because she was a big threat. You're playing waaay too hard too fast girl, you can't do that unless you're Tony Vlachos with a super idol. She definitely got complacent from being in a position of influence for a while then getting 3 idols.

Missy and Elizabeth have also now apologized.

I compared Dean to Albert a few day ago, I change my mind. Albert was better

This season post-merge has been sinking like a stone, and has the potential to end up VERY low. IMO, David vs. Goliath has been the only good season since Millennials vs. Gen X. Doesn't make me feel good for season 40.

Here's a People scoop

quote:

At the end of Wednesday night’s episode of Survivor: Island of the Idols, it was revealed that contestant Dan Spilo was removed from the game as a result of an undisclosed “incident.”

The explanation that appeared on screen was nebulous: “Dan was removed from the game after a report of another incident, which happened off-camera and did not involve a player.”

PEOPLE has spoken to multiple people involved with the show’s production, who confirmed that the incident in question — which involved a member of the show’s production team — happened after an immunity challenge as Spilo and other contestants were getting into a boat to transport them back to the camp.

At one point, Spilo allegedly touched the female crew member’s leg. According to multiple sources, he insisted that the contact was inadvertent and accidental as he lost his balance while trying to get into the boat. At least one of the remaining contestants witnessed the incident.

But the show’s production team wasn’t convinced that the contact was merely incidental. After consulting with the show’s legal team, producers eventually decided to remove him from the show.

Sources close to Spilo say that he vehemently disagreed with the decision to remove him from the game.

Random dude showing up in the finale of EoE and winning in 38
