Someone knock me out until a GE is called, I can't loving cope with another month of wondering when the slight chance of getting a mildly socialist government is going to be flushed away somehow

A far better objection is that the electorate didn't vote for PM Harriet loving Harman or whoever, so it just looks like MPs ignoring people again

Membership love Corbs though, so they'd need a clear successor to vote for anyone else.

mediaphage posted:Yes, despite what the internet thinks, mobile phones get called, too. In part because some of these dialers work by using a list of auto generated phone numbers, not actually a list from someplace. The point still stands though. How many working people can answer their personal phone during office hours? You can't if you work in retail, you can't at most call centres.

Good to see the union effort in games showing it has teeth. Management in the industry was a loving cesspit 10 years ago in my experience, and it certainly doesn't sound like it's got much better. I'm pleased that workers have someone fighting their corner.

Munin posted:Yes on that count but of course the article doesn't focus on her and frames the entire thing in the worst light possible. The population of female MPs that have been up for reselection this time round is tiny, so it's hard to draw meaningful conclusions. However, if misogyny was the driving force here then you'd expect to also see a proportional number of leftist/pro-Corbyn women being triggered for reselection. It also overlooks the fact that a female labour MP triggered for reselection will have an all female nomination list in the selection ballot, by party rules. e: there were also more women than men who endorsed Owen Smith, so if that is a motivator for reselection then you'd expect to see that represented Tarnop fucked around with this message at 05:21 on Oct 8, 2019 |

spiderbot posted:Earlier someone posted a tweet from someone saying 'we need a british Bernie Sanders', but rejecting Corbyn as not being the same thing. Why is that? Is it because Sanders is still relatively unknown, so people can project their own image onto him, or maybe they like the idea of progressive politics as long as it's something that happens on the other side of the atlantic. Will we see the same monstering of Bernie as we got with Corbyn if he looks like he might actually win? Noel Fielding is a huge melt, and Bernie winning won't mean he has to pay more tax on his hard-earned bake off money
