if your entire marketing relies on staying on steam's new & trending, you're gonna have a bad time

The creator does appear to have a lot of media outreach and PR work put into the piece, and it's if nothing else reflective of how an established library can exploit the current platform structure to its relative competitive advantage.

I think there's a difference between relying on New and Trending vs recognizing that a large amount of engagement can be earned from being on the front of that list. Having EA just shadowdrop a big batch of titles that can't be planned around, effectively eliminating one large portion of your visibility, sucks real hard.

it sucks but it's not like EA had it out for this person, they're allowed to dump a bunch of games onto Steam if they want, and people did in fact want them because it generated a lot of discussion even here on the dead forums

It is kinda fucky that they're listed separately and not as one package when you can't actually buy them separately, because tbh I'm not a big fan of most of them. So honestly? I can see her point. E: With that in mind, thinking further on the matter, DropTheAnvil posted:Agreed. Feels a bit rage clicky. You could just as easily blame WWE2K24 for bumping the game off. Considering all of those games cannot be purchased except as a bundle? Gotta say, I don't really think this comparison holds up. It would be like, if the Capcom Fighting Collection came out but instead of taking one slot on the steam store, you had Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors, Night Warriors: Darkstalkers’ Revenge, Vampire Savior: The Lord of Vampire, Vampire Hunter 2: Darkstalkers’ Revenge, Vampire Savior 2: The Lord of Vampire, Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo, Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix, Cyberbots: Full Metal Madness, and Red Earth, and all of these were listed individually. But when you went to buy one of them on its own you were only given the option of either getting all of them as part of a subscription service or buying them all as a store bundle. Something feels off about that. Runa fucked around with this message at 14:08 on Mar 9, 2024 |

Someone posted a workaround in the reviews. Load the steam store in your browser. You can hit f12 in type this in the console tab to add just Red Alert 2 to your cart. It shows up bugged in the checkout screen but it goes through fine:code:

If anyone in the thread pulls the trigger on Stolen Realm, please do report back. It looks very much my jam but hearing mixed stuff about 1.0 around gamepad troubles and balance. I’ll probs bite anyway for $20. But if anyone goes for it in the meantime, I’d be interested in thoughts. ARPG progression plus Divinity/BG3 plus simultaneous turns looks like a coop blast!

It seems like they didn't adjust the scoring when they doubled the player count for servers so matches end very quickly. Also this was pointed out before the game's release https://steamcommunity.com/app/2446550/discussions/0/4347732779392154378/. This might have been fixed though.

I don't quite get it. Aspyr used to be mainly focused on porting PC games to Mac back in the day, and any of those ports I had were at least serviceable. Now they keep doing these crappy ports of old games to modern OSes that get nothing but bad press. This is probably a turning point for them; after this they might stop getting contracts.
