i'd say that the Big 10/SEC challenge should be a thing in football (ala the Big Ten/ACC or Big 12/SEC in basketball), but the Big 10 would never allow it because it would basically guarantee the top teams in the Big Ten would get losses before the season starts, making it harder to get them into the playoffs

I'm fine with the random "kickoff" games at neutral fields if it means my team plays someone better than Utah State or Bowling Green to start the season. Especially now that I'm hundreds of miles from campus and wouldn't attend a season opener anyway. Florida's schedule has always been pretty solid, with Georgia and LSU in-conference and FSU OOC, but drat a lot of these early season matchups have sucked. Miami this year and Michigan two years ago were good, though.
