BTW you do know that you can set up a Google Form to populate the spreadsheet, which should prevent most forms of cheating and other loving around?

A good idea, I will look into that today. I suspect it won't allow people to edit their guesses as we get closer to election night though? There's an edit history so i'm not too worried about people loving with other people's numbers

Congratulations! I'm glad that Corbyn has won. It represents a great opportunity. If there's one thing that lefties hate more than splitters it's democracy but with Corbyn in charge the Left now have no excuses to fall back on and no Establishment conspiracy to blame - defeat will entirely be on themselves. I might be concerned that Corbynite blinding aggression and deafening volume would override sense if this was shortly before the next General Election but as it stands 4 1/2 years is plenty of time for the Corbynites to drive themselves into the ground. If Corbyn loses in 2020 then left-wing politics will be fully discredited, the Blairite post-GE claim that British elections are won in the centre will be definitvely proven, and the socialist cancer consuming the country will go into remission for another generation.

Enjoy the party, chaps.

Good times :allears:

I've never really talked politics with my in-laws (tories have been in power since before I got married) but this election seems to be bringing out their secret Tory alignment :sigh:

They only seem to be able to communicate political messages in sharing loving terrible Facebook memes (lit: a picture of Corbyn, "electing him is like trusting Gary loving Glitter with your kids") to the family group chat and chuckling amongst themselves. I have no idea how to engage with that without upsetting my entirely apolitical wife who doesn't really get why it's important and doesn't want it explained to her.

Try posting one of these stories to your family group chat https://www.google.com/search?q=tory+austerity+deaths

Then follow up with "murderers" and no further comment

Yes, it's actually worse than the passive voice, in that "Pornography was put onto the screen" merely avoids mentioning who was responsible while "Pornography appeared on the screen" ignores the possibility that there even was anyone responsible to avoid mentioning.

To be fair "putting" it on the screen suggests some intent. I'm sure the contractor involved didn't intend for their porn to appear and scupper their lucrative council contract. Maybe "contractor allows porn to be seen at council meeting" would be better

Or we could even go with

"LABOUR council watches porn at meeting!!!"
