$52 trillion is such a large goddamn number it seems kind of ridiculous to try and understand it as one large goal.

that being said it might be enough to scare me into going Bernie instead.

It's more $52 trillion compared to what's being spent currently than "need to come up with another $52 trillion" unless I am mistaken.

quote:

Marie Yovanovitch, the ousted U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, told House impeachment investigators last month that U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland told her she should tweet out support or praise for President Donald Trump if she wanted to save her job, according to a transcript of her testimony made public Monday.

[sic]

According to the transcript, Yovanovitch she asked Sondland for advice on how to handle an onslaught of criticism from conservative media and Donald Trump Jr.

"He said, 'You know, you need to go big or go home. You need to, you know, tweet out there that you support the president, and that all these are lies and everything else,'" she told the committees. "It was advice that I did not see how I could implement in my role as an ambassador, and as a Foreign Service officer."

From reading earlier in the week Bevin losing KY isn't quite an indictment about Trump. Apparently dude and his admins were just tremendous assholes to everyone and burned a lot of bridges etc. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome to see a D win in KY and I think Trump weakening might have played a part, but probably a pretty small part compared to Bevin shooting himself in the dick. Do we have any local KY people that know more of the story?

quote:

Former United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley claims in her new memoir that two of President Donald Trump’s senior advisers tried to subvert him in order to “save the country.”

Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and former White House Chief of Staff John Kelly confided in Haley that they were trying to resist the president and encouraged her do the same, she wrote in her new book, “With All Due Respect,” which comes out on Tuesday.

“Kelly and Tillerson confided in me that when they resisted the president, they weren’t being insubordinate, they were trying to save the country,” Haley wrote.

All these concerned advisors just never realized that the 25th amendment existed I suppose.

Cool. Maybe. I don't pretend to know much about the guy at all other than his pro-indigenous stuff seemed good.

It's definitely true that the anti-indigenous / kneeling at the bible poo poo is bad, full stop.

But, nationalization of resources, inward facing populism and sticking around way past the normal term limits is also basically the trajectory of Hugo Chavez in Venezuela.

Did the deposed president appoint the judges that ruled against enforcing the term limits?

Not trying to argue one way or the other yet because I know gently caress all about Bolivia, but on the surface it seems like it might be replacing a leftist bullshit dictator on the rise for a military-authoritarian one instead.

Man imagine if a bunch of guys from a group that has been found recently to be engaged in voter suppression crashed meetings in the capitol building that they weren't allowed to attend? And then those same guys, part of a diminishing ethnic group and hailing from districts whose very designation was determined by a legally contested process, burst into a secure compartmentalized information facility with cell phones in an attempt to undermine a legal process for investigating the leader of their party.

We should let the USA intervene in this type of shenanigans, it seems pretty freaking corrupt and questionable why some of these guys are even in power.
