A bizarre cool miniature and a small box game, both of which are delightful.

Somehow I've managed to never hear of this game and it looks quite deviously fun.

Thanks Santa Grundma!

Im glad you like them! For Sale has become the go to game for lunchtime in my office and I hope its as big a hit with your group. Have fun with the new model and dont forget to post some pictures when you get around to painting it!

Feline Postal Inspector Sinister made sure it didn’t contain anything dangerous (or interesting to cats). But if not cat treats, what could it contain?

:monocle: Why, it’s The Expanse! That’s brilliant, I can’t wait to get a game going with it!

Ohhh man I've got a Creature Caster model on the way to me and I couldn't be more excited. It's gonna be the first big model I paint and I can't wait to see how your orc looks when you paint it!

Hey!

Sorry I've been a ghost. I'm deep in the wastes of grading finals and my giant extended family is visiting soon*. It's been really drat busy and terrible. I got a package and I just did my part for my secret Santee. Mail sucks around now so it might arrive on Tuesday and I'll take whatever punishment the thread deems correct. I ain't grinching, just, you know, I got a stack of exams the size of my torso and holidays are hard so it might be a day late. I'm a monster, I know.

Good news! If your gift arrives to your Santee on this coming Tuesday the 17th, it's not late at all! I'm just glad to hear you're OK, and you got your gift. Let us know what you got, when you get a chance, and good luck with the family stuff.

If you read back in the thread, you might find your Santee has already opened that delivered package! Unless I've made a bookkeeping error, which is possible.

As of today, Every Santa has posted they've at least shipped which is excellent!

There are some Santees who have probably received a package but not yet posted, and there's a fair number of items that are in transit right now.

My own Santee's main package spent six days just getting from a USPS facility in Nashville, TN to a USPS facility in Miami, FL... on its way to an international destination. Yuck. But I still think it's gonna get there in time!

I received a package that the delivery people literally threw at my door last night (gave the dogs quite some alarm)!

Oh, this must be from a Santa trying to make games Fun Again! The fun was bursting forth from the delivery driver so surely they really wanted me to enjoy this package, which is why they threw it at my apartment door.

Ah, a petit taco of boardgame. It's about the size of a 4x4x2 box. Last time I saw such a boardgame size was Skull, a fine game in and of its own right...

Oh, BIOS:GENESIS! What the gently caress is this game?

quote:

In Bios: Genesis, one to four players start as organic compounds shortly after Earth's formation, represented by up to three Biont tokens. The Amino Acids command Metabolism, the lipids create cells, the pigments control energy absorption and storage, and the nucleic acids control templated replication. Their goal is a double origin of life: first as Autocatalytic Life (a metabolic cycle reproducing, yet not replicating, its own constituents), and the second as Darwinian Life (an Organism using a template to replicate in an RNA world). Players can play cooperative, competitive, or solitaire.

Notes designer Phil Eklund, "This subject is the most difficult and ambitious I have ever attempted, and it has taken many years to get it to work right." With Bios: Genesis, Bios: Megafauna, and Origins: How We Became Human, Eklund takes players through almost the whole breadth and scope of life on Earth.

Hmm, I had not heard of this game before, let's check on BGG for the stats...

More than 50% of respondents rate this game as 5/5 in terms of complexity, eh? And it's part 1 of 3 other games in the same boat by this designer?

I got a game about the MOLECULAR ARMS RACE with one of the highest possible complexity ratings that BGG has to offer!

This is awesome!

Thank you, Secret Santa! I am gonna try and clear off some table space to play this at least solo :negative: or with up to 3 other poor souls who would find fun in exploring the start of cellular life on planet Earth!

Based on my spreadsheet, there's only about seven giftees packages still in transit.

-Mode 7 hasn't gotten their gift yet. Tracking suggests it's close.
-Rid received 1 of 2 expected things
-Berenzen doesn't have either of 2 expected things. Tracking suggests it's close.
-Rhjamiz has 1 of 2 expected things
-JackMann received 1 of an unknown but larger than 1 number of expected things, I think? Santa was slightly vague on this point.
-That Old Tree received 2 of 3 expected things
-Rhjamiz' lighting round thing was shipped but hasn't arrived yet. I haven't checked tracking on it.

If the santas for these goons believe my info is in error, please let me know via email. If the above goons have received additional items but not yet posted about them, please also let me know here or by email. If we're lucky, this might be the first year we've ever had 100% of gifts arrive by the deadline!

One of the reasons the deadline is the 20th is to give us a couple of days for A) shippers to gently caress things up, and B) santees to fix fuckups, before we wind up well past xmas. Nobody should feel bad right now, we're doing really well, and I've not had a single Santa this year who gave me the "oh boy this person seems like they're gonna mess this up" vibe that I usually get right before someone fucks up.

So hang in there, folks, we're nearly there!
