i downloaded a virtual appliance to my dkestop, but i dont have enough space to extract it. i copied it to my hyper v server through an admin share (the S drive) and im extracting it there. why has it taken all day to extract. i thought cpus were fast now. its the netwrix data classification trial if that matters

Hello, thank you for contacting yospos technical support! Please check this quick list of common issues before we begin working your case: 1) is the archive on a networked storage device such as nfs 2) is there a process thread which is at 100% CPU use? 3) have you turned on your monitor? If these items have all been previously checked please run the yospos SOS tool on your desktop and upload the resulting archive to this thread. Please let me know if you have any questions! We value your feedback! Let us know how we're doing by rating this thread 1-5 using the box below. Best Regards, Salt Fish

this might be unfair expectations on my part, but if you read the thread closely its a software appliance. so I guess my answer is android powered fridge

op make sure your computer is on a flat surface while extracting

have you tried using a parallelized compression algorithm?
|
# ? Nov 23, 2019 01:57 |
|
it'll go faster if you loosen up the compression by hand first, that way the decompression algorithms don't have to work so hard

run the file under very hot water before you try extracting again

the cloud provider is waiting for a transaction response from your credit card provider before each extracted block of data written to disk gets acked, op if you want it to go faster you have to add more payment processors alternatively if this is a local whitebox hyper-v server it's just slow because the hardware was fished out of a dumpster
