from a certain perspective, even solid matter is mostly empty space (in between the subatomic particles etc) so really there's not a big difference between moving the dirt and not. might as well just kick back and take it easy

Here is a link to all the newly-released Boeing emails. I was frustrated that none of the news reports actually linked to the full emails so dug this up. https://archive.org/details/boeingemailsocr quote:Sent: 6/5/2617 8:02:55pm quote:8:55 am: Mozi fucked around with this message at 14:48 on Jan 11, 2020 |

Or like how we all decided BPAs were bad, but nobody ever asks what it was we replaced BPA with and if that is even worse (guess what).

Classon Ave. Robot posted:That's probably about as effective as the real N95 masks. The virus isn't like airborne, it comes from touching surfaces that someone coughed on then touching your face. His mask prevents face-touching just as well as a real one I bet. incorrect; the virus in addition to being spread by surfaces is also spread by droplet infection (coughing right on someone) and to a limited extent aerosol infection (lots of people in fairly close quarters with recirculated air, e.g. a cruise ship - not going to carry on the air for blocks and blocks, though)

Modest Mao posted:those are facts though, I wanted to understand what's happening and share sentiments I heard from friends who actually lived or grew up in Xinjiang. How can you think my saying that .5% of chinese people live there but they make up 22% of the prison population as anything but condemnation? lots of people are unable to hold 'x did something bad' and 'x later did something effective' in their heads at the same time like it or not the CCP is going to go on a propaganda offensive over the coming months and in the long run is going to come out in a stronger position (if the economy doesn't completely collapse) and if anyone thinks i remotely like the CCP in making this judgement they need to get their head checked. i spent six years studying them in college and postgrad and all i have is bitter cynicism, frustration and disappointment

Thomamelas posted:It depends. The early Church interpreted it as Jesus riding each of the horses in turn to devastate the Earth. There are some interpretations that claim they are four of Archangels. And you can get into wacky new age poo poo that says they are aliens. well sure but so was jesus (who was sent by the aliens to fix the corrupted human genetics that resulted from mixing with neanderthals)

Tumble posted:Uhg I woke up with nightmares today so I figured I'd share with ya'll. I saw somebody get hit by a subway train yesterday in Philly, it was horrible. He was high as hell on something, probably K2. I looked over at him like "This dude is a danger to himself..." and then less than a minute later somebody shouted, and I look back over and the loving dude was trying to get a cigarette that fell on the tracks. smoking kills that sucks man

Cojawfee posted:It really is insane that you can just walk up to the edge of the tracks in this modren era. if I were to design such a system today, I'd have a barrier that's away from the tracks. The train comes in and it stops in such a way that it blocks anyone from getting into the tunnel or on the tracks. Then the train doors open and then a separate set of doors open that let people get from the platform to the train. safety would make it impossible, there's no money in it

i don't think zoom is any worse than other options, they just happened to be thrust into the limelight and everyone is figuring out all the pre-existing vulnerabilities. though some of the monitoring stuff seems a bit scummy but if we were all using GoToMeeting now they'd probably be having the same problems
