Making some bacon this weekend, in fact. But yeah, that's kinda what's happening here. Our landlord has decided to sell the place so we gotta get out (he did offer it to us, but it's above what we could afford, and we wouldn't want it anyway since it needs a lot of work just from what we can *see* nevermind what we can't). Prior to that, MIL offered us a sum of money that would make up a down payment, so we spent this past weekend going to some open houses just to see what the market looks like and we should be able to find a place this hits most of our wants within our budget.

I had the good luck of being able to use the President Obama first time home buyer tax credit to get mine and I will always credit that man for changing my family's lives with that one tax credit.

Sometimes I miss being able to just call my landlord and say poo poo’s hosed come fix it, but more times I appreciate not having to spend three quarters of my loving paycheque on that guy’s mortgage instead of like a third of it on my own.
