isn’t wsl’s io performance like laughably bad? like don’t you need like the bleeding edge alpha insider build for it to be close to acceptable? or has that changed since last i checked?

I hope that explains it. windows desktop is just bad now and getting worse. they've given up all pretenses of being anything but a bootloader for office and games linux desktop is fine if you stick with red hat who make a supported product people actually use. if you want to go full on with some custom hackjob poo poo you're on your own

i would use redhat if we wanted to pay for a support contract. otherwise we just run debian poo poo with gnome or i3 depending on what the devs want to use.

Ya Linux desktop is good if you're using i3wm. Windows 10 and probably any other non tiling window manager is really frustrating to use coming from i3.

Just wait until you get a job in corporate IT where everyone is too stupid to janitor anything that doesn't have buttons to click on, Windows will be everywhere then.

in my medium/large institution I was ordered to work in a particular location that had just been finished but the computer janitors were still firing up ports on the other side of the floor but my side was still fine and also the wifi was cranking but when the janitor saw me loving my job more than his he told me to get the gently caress off my floor and I said that my boss said that I had to be up there and then he said that his boss said that the floor wasn't ready yet so I told him to gently caress off in a nice way so he hosed off and then switched off my network access and then I lol'd and went home and left him to port away no the floor and I had a margarita in comfort and joy

windows server and it's associated apps are a case study in why making something easy isn't the same as making it good this program will install fart app onto your computer -> next install into program files -> next add a startup shortcut -> next installmssqllocallyanddontenablesslandenableiisconfiguredfortheappwithdefaultcredentialsanddisablethefirewall -> next, fuckin hell this takes ages, when's lunch?
