I have a maybe slightly dodgy question, but I dunno where else to ask and this is as close to a general PC gaming thread as there is on the forums. I recently bought Dawn of Magic 1 from ebay, because Steam only has the second game and apparently the story is basically incomprehensible without playing the first one. Unfortunately DoM1 uses an old (like, mid-2000) version of StarForce and does not run on Windows 10 (or 8 for that matter) because of it. That said, there appears to be a no-cd patch made at some point. The dodgy question - is there a safe site to download such things these days without getting a bucketload of viruses? It's been very long since I had to do that, and I can't figure out how to download from gamecopyworld without the file getting blocked by chrome, which by itself makes me really nervous. I legally own the game and everything, I'd just quite like to play it as well. Please send me a PM if it's not okay to post about.

What's wrong with SW Battlefront 1 matchmaking? I got it on the last EA sale and every single match I'm fighting against a team that get >90% of the kills, with everyone over 2:1 KD, usually more like 5:1 or 6:1. Is it just that you can make a group with friends and roll over newbies? That's kindof poo poo. I thought ESO matchmaking was broken, but at least in that you had some matches where you wouldn't get completely rolled.

Flimf posted:Epic should just have launched their garbage store with a new unreal tournament instead of all this stupid exclusivity crap They should just move everything to Steam, they can do discounts if they want to do marketing with cheap games. It might not be the right business move for them but it's absolutely 100% what I would prefer, as it is I just don't buy their games outside Steam.

I bought 2 anime games which have an optional adult patch, of which I only played one and without the patch, and now steam only keeps recommending me porn games. I hope it gets overwritten soon, I've been playing other games since but all I see is porn in the recommendations. e: The game was pretty fun though (Venus Blood: Frontier). RPATDO_LAMD posted:sorry op but every game with an 'optional' adult patch is a game primarily for porn, that just means it was released before steam allowed games to release with unpatched anime tentacle orgies. so everyone else who bought the game bought it for the porno and now steam's algorithm is assuming that applies to you too In this case they released it last year in English for the first time and actually rewrote all the adult scenes out to release it as PG, with an updated script and everything. e: VVV sorry you're right Private Speech fucked around with this message at 01:33 on Dec 2, 2022 |

Deadly Ham Sandwich posted:None. That happened pretty recently and it sounds like a blatant case of fraud. Courts won't resolve the issue for a few months. Chieves posted:Roger. I'll put that towards the winter sale on something else. Apparently they just now returned the money to the company and the case got dropped? A bit unclear what that means since I assume it was more about the controlling stake and decisions taken with it, like firing the main developers, but anyway: Disco Elysium Case Dropped After Cash Returned To Developer

Anarchy Online But actually don't, well maybe give it a go if you want it's f2p for the base game, you can even multibox on f2p. Star Wars TOR is also f2p now and has lots of singleplayer-friendly content. e: Also MapleStory and Wizard 101 are still around if you want that sort of classic pseudo-mmo thing. Volte posted:The Portal RTX thing runs at like 90fps on my 3070Ti if I set DLSS to Ultra Performance, or 50-60 on Performance. Seems better than I expected. Ultra Performance renders it at a super low resolution though, so really it's not that impressive.

I don't know about the remake (yet, I'll probably buy it) but Crisis Core is definitely a full game. In terms of gameplay it's somewhere between ff13, ff7 and ff8. It's a pretty fun game IMO, I've 100% it when it came out which took like 100 hours or so.

My haul this time around: Dorfromantik Stray The Life and Suffering of Sir Brante Yes, Your Grace Ho Tu Lo Shu: The Books of Dragon (supposed to be a great open-world RPG/combat/life-simulation Wuxia game with an English patch, 50% off - https://store.steampowered.com/app/952860/_Ho_Tu_Lo_Shu__The_Books_of_Dragon/) Fate Seeker (similar to above but less open, also 50% off and has an English patch - https://store.steampowered.com/app/882790/Fate_Seeker/) Hypnospace Outlaw Super Sportmachen Horizon's Gate/Alvora Tactics/Voidspire Tactics Bundle (ultima-likes with some more modern complexity to help things stay fresh - https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/18397/Rad_Codex_Tactics_Bundle/) Elden Ring The Big Con Warriors Orochi 3: Ultimate Fairly happy with it, am considering Medieval Dynasty and RDR2 but I already have way too much to play and far too little time. All are very positive and up except Super Sportmachen, which is £1.49. Private Speech fucked around with this message at 12:45 on Dec 23, 2022 |

Jeremor posted:Anybody have a recommendation for a good co-op game with online multiplayer that you can really sink your teeth into? I'm going to go with Ark: Survival Evolved, if you haven't played it yet that is. It helps to mod the game and change the settings a bit, otherwise it's stupidly grindy. It's absolutely massive, not even including the DLC.

Omi no Kami posted:Is there anything similar to the old Romance of the Three Kingdoms games which a) isn't sixty bucks on sale (thanks, Tecmo Koei), and b) focuses on strategy over combat/army stuff? I've heard a lot of people recommend Paradox games as a replacement, and I do love their schtick, but EU/CK/Imperator just doesn't scratch the same itch for me. Three Kingdoms: The Last Warlord is probably what you want. I found it a bit boring but then I also thought the same about ROTK so YMMV; and it's only like 3 dollars on sale right now. e: The top two English reviews: One Guy - Positive posted:Thanks to koei ruining the romance of the three kingdom series, this is the next best thing. Another Guy - Negative posted:Just a game of endless lists screens. Have "fun" assigning and reassigning tasks while looking through endless number and character lists and menus within menus. Don't know why anyone would wanna play such a convoluted game when there's much more straight forward strategy games. I think those two just about say it all really. It's basically a native Chinese ripoff of the older ROTK games, with some minor jank and a few extra features. Comes with somewhat rough but official English localisation. I posted it earlier but if you haven't tried then Three Kingdoms: The Last Warlord is genuinely a good option for the above, no relation to Koei Tecmo (they don't actually have a copyright on the three kingdoms period, believe it or not).
