The second half was an unmitigated disaster, but the seeds of Buffalo's latest humiliating defeat were sown when they bafflingly decided to settle for a field goal before the half. They had the opportunity to go up 20-0, but instead chose to run the ball from the loving 20 yard line, burning almost 15 seconds and electing to spike the football instead of calling a timeout. This left them with little time, and they took only one shot at the end zone, kicking a field goal with 9 seconds left. Josh played poorly in the second half, the worst offenses being the fumble and eating a bad sack on 3rd down late in the game that pushed them out of field goal range, but the play-calling and pass protection did him no favors. The Bills forgot about Devin Singletary for entire drives. They couldn't finish drives and seemed to be playing for 3rd and long. The receivers all but disappeared, with John Brown winning the booby prize for his boneheaded failure to drag his feet on a perfectly-thrown pass that would have put the Bills in 1st&goal. The defense failed to show up in the second half. They gave up 3 scoring drives in a row and were seemingly incapable of containing DeShaun Watson. Aside from the forced fumble, they couldn't stop the Texans, and the pass rush that excelled in the first half completely disappeared in the second. Most unforgivable is that the Texans adjusted to the Bills game plan and the Bills coaching staff had no answers. If they made adjustments, it certainly didn't show up on the field. That's right, I'm going to come out and say it: Bill O'Brien outcoached Sean McDermott in the second half, and it wasn't even close. Best of luck next week, Texans.
