When I was a kid in the 90s there were commercials on TV for either Mister Ed or Francis the Talking Mule VHS collections, and I distinctly remember there being a clip where either Mister Ed or Francis is in a boxing or wrestling ring with a human, and the human is losing horribly. For the life of me, when I google around I can't find ANY Mr. Ed episode or Francis movie where something like this happens. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Definitely 40s or 50s and black and white, by the way.

smokestacks posted:Scene from a psychological thriller movie, probably from around 2000-2010. In the scene, character A is telling character B this story about a group of people going to visit an asylum. As the group of people is being shown around, they start to realize that the people locked up in the cells are actually the doctors and the people showing them around are actually the inmates, i.e. the classic inmates running the asylum story. As character A is telling the story, it's also shown visually in the style of a grainy old 1920s film. House on Haunted Hill remake, I think.

It was a western, Japanese or Korean movie that I think was made during the 80s or 90s that had these colorful, super stylized sets and costumes that looked very theatrical. Not a lot to go on but I hope this rings a bell for somebody because this it driving me nuts. I know it's not 80s or 90s but this sounds like Tears of the Black Tiger, which definitely could be mistaken for 80s or 90s.

This one's on the tip of my tongue. Some sort of movie where two apartments are connected by a hole behind the medicine cabinet—you can pull the medicine cabinet off and just climb through the rectangular hole into the other one. This is discovered at some point in the movie, which explains how someone sneaks from their apartment into the other.

It had this one scene where a bunch of guys are recapping all these stories from their youth and one of them wistfully tells everyone about the time him and his friends gang raped a gay kid and when it got to his turn they locked eyes and had a moment according to him. None of the characters objects to this story. I really need to know what critics at the time had to say about it and find out who the gently caress wrote that. This is definitely Your Friends & Neighbors

The Great Burrito posted:First movie was I’m going to say late 80’s but set in the 60’s(?). It was about a 13yo spending the summer trying to see the female teacher he has a crush on having sex... like I think it begins with them being given an assignment to set a goal for the summer. I believe it was narrated, and he makes friends with a girl his age who helps him on this essential quest. The only other thing I can remember is that he gets his wish but it turns out his father is cheating on his mom with her. Possibly an uncle. I don’t remember if the movie was any good but it’s been stuck in my head since I saw it years and years ago This is definitely Just Looking, directed by Jason Alexander of all people. It's a pretty good movie. EclecticTastes posted:3. A made-for-TV movie that I think may have also been an ad, similar to Mac & Me, but featuring a character who was, like, found as the "prize" in a box of cereal and needed water (or, in the film's context, milk) added to take form and do whatever. I could be completely misinterpreting the memory, though, I mostly just remember the imagery of a little shrunken, dried-out looking dude (I wanna say he was yellow and red, like Ronald Mcdonald) and a bowl of cereal, on a back patio, on one of those tables with the parasol in the middle. I was between the ages of three and five for this one, as well. Pretty sure the character was an alien. I do not recall what he looked like rehydrated. I think there were at least two human characters, a brother and sister. This could possibly just be a heavily distorted amalgam of memories of Mac & Me, but watching it on MST3K didn't really clear much up on that front. Aliens for Breakfast, a TV movie starring Sinbad as the alien. I'd totally forgotten about this one until I saw your description. It's based on a kids book that came out a couple years before. I remember liking the book a lot as a kid, and being disappointed with the adaptation. codyclarke fucked around with this message at 15:28 on Apr 22, 2022 |

Embarrassed I can't remember this, because I definitely liked the movie a lot, and probably saw it in the last few years. I definitely watched this movie on TV, I want to say on TCM. Color film, fairly modern, or at least set in its present day. 70s or recent. Man is dating a woman. He's at a dinner at her rich family's house, who he wants to impress, as he's not of that class. There's a piano there. At this point in the film, he's said he can play the piano and is a composer, but it's unclear if he actually can or not, he might be lying. He's encouraged to play the piano and can't say no. He proceeds to play absurdly terribly, or at least not traditionally beautiful. It evolves into some sort of violently, angrily played avant garde piano piece. This upsets some guests (though I think one or two of them might have liked it, I can't remember). This is all a precursor though to him finishing his performance out by playing a traditional and difficult classical piano extremely well—proving that he can play anything.

Woody Allen movie where he (or a surrogate protagonist) takes off the woman he's with's earrings before they're about to make love or something. Can't remember which of his films this is from, but I'm pretty sure it happens in one of them.

There's a documentary that came out sometime between 2000 and 2010 about a guy who lived in an apartment where he filmed himself 24/7 with remote cameras. This is not 'In The Bathtub of the World' or 'We Live in Public'—I remember the DVD for this movie having a courier type font, green text on black. I think that was an early internet thing where people could watch the footage, but I can't remember. Edit: Nevermind, found it—Wide Awake (2006) codyclarke fucked around with this message at 14:43 on Aug 10, 2023 |

Some movie I saw recently had a thing where the guy would have to jam a spatula or something like that into where the microwave door meets the microwave, in order for the microwave door to stay closed enough so he could use the microwave. For the life of me I can't remember what movie that was. My apologies that that's all the information I can supply.
