So why do people on video game twitter keep pretending Kiryu from the Yakuza series is a character who "doesn't know what sex is", those game are incredibly horny and you can take girls to hotels in most of them. The only characters who gently caress more explicitly are in bad David Cage games.

Speaking of Blizzard, I cannot believe how badly they have screwed up this Warcraft 3 reforged thing. All they had to do was make the polygons slightly less jaggedy and maybe allow people to zoom out further.

N64 had the AKI wrestling games, it will never be topped as a console.

But to speak dispassionately for a moment, Nintendo completely shot themselves in the foot by going with a system that couldn't meaningfully do FMVs at a time when FMVs were such a gigantic selling point for early 3D games, especially JRPGs. That was really an own goal there.

Going back a bit, Nuts and Bolts is a half finished exploration platformer that had its maps doubled in size to awkwardly turn them into racetracks to serve a very mediocre racer system, it has no value. Especially when you remember this is the company that brought us Diddy Kong Racing.

Hey fun fact, the top loading deck of the NES was a completely cosmetic function added to the design to make it resemble the then-current technology of VCRs to set it apart from the atari, which still had a negative reputation due to the video game crash.

Yeah I always found it suspicious that there's this narrative where the PC cannot fail, only be failed. If the PC version is better it proves the PC's good, and if the console version is better well the problems with the PC version are obviously the console's fault for forcing a lovely port.

Yeah the Telltale one's not bad. Far from the best Telltale or Monkey Island game, and the asset reuse is very obvious in the later episodes, but I enjoyed it overall.

People were way too generous to those games when they came out because it was 3D sonic with a STORY, and he goes SUPER SAIYAN, but they're really bad. They don't hold up, and replaying them if you have fond memories of them will make you realize you manufactured those memories. There's really nothing good in those games except for the soundtrack, especially 2's (minus the knuckles raps which are incredibly phoned in).

That's why the backlash against Sonic Heroes didn't make sense to me. It was just more of the same, but apparently people's expectations were based on their false memories of SA, not the actual games.

Other games, where Sonic talks, are strange and unusual and I don't very much care for them

also I have a feeling I may have made this exact post previously in one of these threads

Sonic Mania is extremely good. The first Sonic Advance is also quite fun, not quite up to S3&K quality but a very good 2D sonic that manages to incorporate the then-current character designs and abilities without feeling like too much of a departure gameplay-wise. Sonic Advance 2 and 3 have serious issues, though.

Pretty much every other Sonic game after the Genesis is a mixed bag at best, including Sonic CD.

Hey don't forget that it was pretty. A lot of the visual flourishes in Mania were taken from CD almost frame for frame. But yeah it's got serious issues, not least of which that it's a Sonic game where you can get lost in the stages.

I'll be real I never played those, they might be one of the secret good ones. Generations is very close to being a good game, it even makes stages from 06 seem fun, and i love all the song remixes and covers, but it's got just enough jank and annoying BS (that final boss, ugh) to fall into the mixed bag category for me.

Which is why Fox stubbornly refusing to include him in the movies other than a brief cameo and his solo film constantly getting delayed and canceled was really baffling. He's been in a couple decent comics here and there but his popularity has definitely faded, and now it's too late to cash in on a character who's profile was like 10x that of Iron Man's when that first movie came out.
