Who remembers Wendy's SuperBar?

Who remembers the Pizza Hut buffet?

I'm pretty sure some still exist! There was one near me with a lunch buffet but it closed a couple years ago.

Did you know there's at least one KFC with a buffet?? This one is in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin! It's had a buffet for decades.

I for one would really enjoy a buffet of various Taco Bell crunchwrap wedges or Wendy's spicy nugs.

This case of an intraperitoneal zucchini is unusual, and does raise questions as to how hard one has to push a blunt vegetable to perforate the rectum.
I swear buffets were way more common when I was a kid.

I think that's true, they kind of had a heyday in the 80s and 90s when everyone wanted to supersize everything and all that. Then I think people became more health conscious and didn't want to eat 3 plates and got grossed out when Sizzler got shut down for ebola or whatever. I think buffets are primed to make a comeback! They kind of already are with fancy grocery stores with big hot bars for millennials and xennials who don't want to cook.

My favorite genre of buffet is the Chinese buffet that also serves sushi. Actually a straight up sushi buffet is better but I haven't seen one in a long time. Those probably dont make money because people like me go and eat all the sushi.

Pizza hut buffet pizza is not the same as ordered pies I swear though. But early 90's eating in a smoky, dimly lit Pizza Hut with my free personal pan for filling up another Book It! button, while my dad drinks light beer and eats off the buffet is a memory I can't get rid of treasure.

All the KFC/Pizza Hut buffets I can think of, are right on an intestate exit.

Everyone owes it to themselves to read Golden_Corral.txt

It's about a guy going to Golden Corral to people watch. And the sights he sees are amazing. I read it maybe once a year.

When I worked near a Golden Corral I would go there for lunch once every couple months to fill up a to-go box.

The people I saw sitting in the booths by themselves at 1:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, honestly depressed the hell out of me and ruined the rest of my day.

I just can't eat as much as I used to. In the past few years, even when I go to a regular restaurant I have to cut my burger in half. If I was 16 I could spend over an hour eating at a buffet.

I don’t think it’s Americans being any more health conscious. Quite the opposite, I think we got Too Good at buffets to make it a sane monetary proposition for the chain.

I’m old enough to remember the Wendy’s Superbar — there was a delicate balance in making stuff like this work which centered around 65+ seniors in WW2 veteran hats hanging out at a fast food restaurants socially for hours and spending money on coffee but eating a reasonable human’s portion. This balanced out the pothead teenagers and gluttonous boomer dads who were already taking the restaurant for a bath.

In 2021 sure some people will avoid buffets to be healthy but those who show up will eat them out of loving house and home. Consider Youtubers, gym guys, legal weed and what you’d need to charge at a fast food restaurant to turn a profit on unlimited food

the indian restaurant near me used to do a sunday buffet in the before times, and it was like, not a buffet restaurant quality thing

it was like a national holiday "all your family is here" quality potluck, everything was amazing, no trays of cheap zero effort greasefood

every single week. you could come by any sunday and it felt like you stopped at somebody's wedding or christmas family meal, all dishes on point like your parents and aunts and uncles were trying to outdo each other politely

I miss chinese buffets more though, because I am guilty of the sin of gluttony. Salty, crispy, savory, spicy, crunchy, tender, give me all the meats coated in all the things. Breaded fried shrimp in mayo? Sure, why the gently caress not? Interlude at plate 3 or so to have the "mongolian grill" make you a plate of 3x spicy garlic noodles/zucchini/mushrooms/onions. Fried biscuit dough rolled in sugar. Sesame balls. Questionable sushi. Chicken wangs. Panko breaded fried veg slices. Salt and pepper breaded frog legs. A big vat of "soup with dumplings" where you can have OOPS ALL DUMPLINGS AND GREEN ONION bowl

Shoney's breakfast buffet man. Just loading up a plate with heaps and heaps of bacon.

The KFC buffet has a special place in my heart, and I think the one in my hometown still has it but only during lunch. Anyway, one of my high school buddies lived within a mile of this KFC buffet. When I finally decided that, yeah, I was ready to give weed a go, he and another friend of ours decided the best way to go about my introduction to the Devil's lettuce was to smoke up and walk to the KFC buffet. And I'm here to tell ya, buddy, they were absolutely correct.

I remember Rax, a roast beef place like Arbys, having a taco buffet. I always liked the Pizza Hut buffets, especially when they did wings. The chicken alfredo pasta was pretty good. It seems like every couple years I come across a KFC lunch buffet, probably overdue for one. Need to travel more I guess.

Who else's parents used to say you were below the children discount age when you obviously weren't? No one ever questioned it but man I was embarrassed every time. :saddowns:
