To be fair, that particular one had a -10% global happiness modifier so  I think the intended way is to have all rooms at prestige 5 and dropping Dragon statues everywhere in the hospital to force the "Outstanding room"/"Amazing environment" +lot% happiness modifier. EDIT: this is my solution to the gp-geddon problem. It's obviously a project that took all the level from one of my initial doctors, but even the intermediate steps are monsters, and I have other 10 guys like this one running around the hospital in various stages of their apotheosis. Presenting: dr. House's cousin  The grumpy trait was not deliberate, but I'll take it. How good is this guy in a GP room? Well:  VERY good. Senior consultants are 130% baseline for reference. I'm finding that it's better long term to snap up all the student/junior doctors and mold them into the specialists they need to be to handle the crush that occurs post hospital level 15. Consultants you can hire have a random mix of nonsense that make them undesirable because you can't boost recovery rates or diagnostic speed that way. It ends up being that you have to have three training rooms running all the time and overstaffing a bit, but it pays for itself when your cure rates go through the roof and your GPs need only a single visit to make the diagnosis.

Given the weird size and shapes you're dealing with, perhaps a change in how you set things up is in order? Try using the outer wall as the corridor, rather than using the walls to guide your room placement, like a ring around rooms. That way, you can not worry about odd corners.

On Grey's current map I three-starred while leaving multiple plots unpurchased and one completely empty because I thought I needed expansion space but sort of petered out. The only one I was truly hard pressed for was Smogley which ended up with twenty surgical suites and still had queues five deep at all of them. But Smogley is all surgery all the time, and surgery is very time consuming.
