Here is a thread to discuss our favorite caped crusader SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE GHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOST!

Space Ghost Coast to Coast is a satirical animated talk show created by Mike Lazzo in 1994 for the fledgling Cartoon Network. At the time it was the network's only original programming as Turner Broadcasting had launched the network as a platform for the broadcasting of the Hanna-Barbera library they had just purchased. Using animation from the animated series Space Ghost the creators had Space Ghost interview his guests by way of a television set nearby. The guests were sometimes interviews done for other Turner Broadcasting shows with questions added by creators later, or questions were changed after the interview was conducted, making them sort of nonsensical.

Space Ghost's co-hosts are an evil mantis named Zorak (the band leader) and a lava man named Moltar (the producer) who Space Ghost imprisoned and has forced to help him with his show. They openly despise him and do their best to ruin the show.

Fun fact: the original theme "Hit Single" was composed and performed by free jazz guitarist Sonny Sharrock, and the episode "Sharrock" is a tribute to him, following his death, with the music played during the "technical difficulties" portions taken from outtakes and recordings he did for the show.

So let's talk about Space Ghost and what you were doing in Hattiesburg. Also argue over the best episodes. For me the top four are: Banjo, Knifin' Around, Kentucky Nightmare, and Piledriver.

If you aren't familiar with the show plenty of episodes are up on Youtube and Dailymotion (including the four best episodes I just mentioned).

Is Cartoon Planet discussion allowed here bc that show is also amazing as hell. It's SGC2C's more childish predecessor, featuring mfing Brak.

Of course! All Space Ghost related discussion is cool! I remember first seeing Cartoon Planet while staying up late at my grandma's house watching cable (which I didn't have as a kid). It blew my mind. Then in junior high my friend played me Musical Backyard BBQ

Toast is really good too, I love when Zorak tries to get sweet with Merrill Markoe to spite Space Ghost. Chambraigne and Justice Hole are both great ones as well. also i like the one where space ghost replaces zorak and moltar with a computer

I've seen a lot of Cartoon Planet and I love it, but sadly haven't had much chance to see Coast to Coast.

Is that the one where Zorak hides in the vent and won't come out? That had me in tears.

Also during the peer-to-peer file sharing days I somehow ended up with a file of something called Brak Presents the Brak Show Starring Brak which was really good, but idk if it was a one-off or what.

Zorak is my favorite.

Someone buy Brak an account tbh

I seem to remember that Cartoon Planet started out as a bookend for various obscure old Hanna-Barbera adventure series' and at some point they seemed to realize that the intro sketches were way better than the actual content so they just made that the whole show.

My brother and stepbrothers and I were low key obsessed with Brak's songs and were known to serenade everyone at family gatherings. Favorites included

I still quote the entire "C. Ling Tile" exchange pretty much verbatim at the drop of a hat.

Also not sure how many people are free-jazz heads itt BUT fun fact the space ghost theme was performed by legendary free-jazz guitarist Sonny Sharrock. Probably my favorite jazz anything of all time.

Not to derail the thread but here's my favorite song by the guy. RIP.
