The Jags will be trading Ngakoue in the near future.

Schefty already says they're using the tag.

https://twitter.com/AdamSchefter/status/1234456776793317376

Dee Ford and Frank Clark both were both traded for premium picks and still got contracts in the $18m+ per range so I can't see Yannick not being worth at least that price. He likely gets more.

Diva Cupcake
Aug 15, 2005

Also, Yannick is a monster and he's only 24. I don't see any chance he gets traded for less than a high 2nd and probably then some.

Diva Cupcake
Aug 15, 2005

The market is going to be loving grim though. Everyone is getting tagged and/or signing long term deals because every team (except the Vikings/Steelers) is flush with cap space.

If you're a team who wants to content and is in need of a pass rusher, a 2nd is a steal. I think he gets a 1st.

And he’s locked into contract until 2023?

Man. I’d be pumped if Miami could turn a 2 into him
2021. The last 2 years of his contract are dummy years to spread the signing bonus hit out.

Any team that trades for him will be most likely making him the highest paid guard in the league.

The final year seems to be a dummy year but the year before that has no void and it looks rather low. Is there a better breakdown of it somewhere?
Same ones as usual, OverTheCap and Spotrac. He signed a 4 year extension in 2017 during the last year of his rookie year.

Yeah, but isn't Bouye really good with a massive dead cap hit?
$0 in dead cap according to Spotrac, $4m in dead cap according to OverTheCap.

In either case, the Jags are getting over $10m in cap freed up.

Does not apply to PEDs but it looks like NFLPA played their recreational drug suspension card.

Yes, they’ll still test and the results can be subject to a fine and admittance into their Intervention programs. Josh Gordon can’t just do as much blow as possible with no repercussions now; he just can’t be suspended for it.

Here’s the full proposed substance program:

Didn’t the Browns offer up their 1st last year and Bruce Allen turned it down? I still think he’ll fetch a 1st from someone.

Diva Cupcake

The Jets were the only bidder for Teddy in 2018. The Saints and Dolphins were the only two in 2019 and even then it was for backup money.

He might get a deal like Jacoby got with the Colts, 2/$30m, from someone who think he might be a decent stopgap. I dont see anyone throwing around big money on him.

I mean, he’s pretty good against the run, though the Jets got better against the run after the trade. Just don’t expect him to rush the passer. As a Jets fan I admit I probably have irrational opinions about him as a player.

Also I didn’t realize the trade kicker was based on him being re-signed before free agency begins, not being re-signed in general. So if this plays out as expected, the Jets would be stuck with the 2021 5th and not the 2021 4th.

I mean they still got a high 3rd and 5th for guy whose been a net zero on the team. I’ll take that.

What makes you think this is the first offer? They've been negotiating for upwards of a year.

If they reject this, they're almost certainly getting locked out next year.

Isn’t the Bucs offense based around the deep passing game? That’s never been Brady’s strength and now at 43 that would be a disaster.

Arians isn't a one-trick pony. He's perfectly capable of running any type of offense to fit player skillset.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Tua went #2 or #3 at this point. Apparently his recovery went as well as it could have, and aside from Chase Young I don’t think anyone is better/plays a premium position like QB, DE, LT.

There was a time when I thought we could get Tua at #5 or maybe even #7, but now I think teams will come back around on him. He was the #1 overall earlier in the season after all.

There’s been a few draftiks like Matt Miller speculating that Tua won’t have the ability to do on-sites or physicals in the lead up to the draft, which can hurt his draft position. Teams aren’t just going to take media reports of him being ahead of schedule as gospel.
