Strong stroll for a mangy stray

True, but I'm sad for all the players, coaches, etc who fully committed to the league to try to earn their way back/in to the NFL.

On the positive side, it worked for quite a few of them, at least as far as predraft rosters are concerned. Pittsburgh alone picked up like six XFL players

I’m kinda surprised they didn’t put together a multi-billion dollar COVID-19 bailout package that Vince would dutifully donate to the appropriate Republicans.

Let’s buy the XFL.

Dana White will buy it and they’ll play in international waters.

So what I'm taking from this is that the XFL was going to go the way of the AAF if there hadn't been a pandemic.

bankrupt is more a state of mind than anything else, what's happened is it's become totally not worth it to NOT file for bankruptcy, considering they can't market their product and have no idea when they would be able to

That was before the WWE stock price tanked. The potential loss even if the XFL had eventually failed looked a lot more manageable when the shares were high off the back of the huge deals with Fox and NBCU, a lot less so now that reality has set in. And that was likely to have happened even if the pandemic hadn't happened, COVID just sped things along.

Per Meltzer after speaking to sources in New York, Vince McMahon declaring bankruptcy for the XFL “in a sense” hurt his reputation because Meltzer’s sources know McMahon is worth “billions” and that he reportedly earmarked $300 million to spend on the XFL revival. Meltzer states that despite earmarking $300 million for the return of the XFL, McMahon did not end up spending that much on it. He added, “Essentially, he’s [Vince] screwing the people who he worked with: the coaches, the arenas, the stadiums I should say. A lot of the people he owed money to are the stadiums.”
