I think there is a stats screen? One flashed up briefly while menus were being poked through for something else. That said, it was so briefly that I couldn't tell how useful it would be, and you really shouldn't have to go back to a stats screen every time you change equipment to see what was affected.

Well, there IS a status screen. I think he more means that the armor and weapons we pick up don't explicitly tell you if something is "better" without having to equip stuff and compare from the status screen. I feel both ways--the info is there, but its cumbersome to have to check and re-check everything you have to find out if its worth keeping.

Well, that was certainly interesting to see. But I kind of get the feeling that you missed not only some secrets, but also a part of the story somehow... Why are you fighting a tree at the end who is apparently also the king's child? Why does the tree try to open some sort of dark portal? What about that Black Knight the soldier mentioned, or is the tree the Black Knight? And I think according to the rude man who took your first Truth Mirror, a dark magician was also supposed to be involved at some point. And for a gameplay question: Is there an actual strategy to that boss or are you just supposed to damage-race it?

The best answer to both is

I'm pretty impressed you used the fairy fossil on your own. I had the guide to this game and always wondered if anyone solved that puzzle without it.

So in order to use Sword Magic in this game you actually have to be trained in it. Tier one magic is taught by Veyrac in Cason after your stats hit a certain level, although I think at this point it might be too late; tier two is taught to you if you use Lyn's ring by the fountain in the castle courtyard. Neither actually tells you that's what they're teaching you or how to use it, so good luck figuring out the random button combination that didn't actually do anything until now. It's tricky enough that even the official guide says that it's not in this game.

That was more of a "There's a ton of poo poo here we had to fight through, maybe we have something that'll do...something" moment than anything.

Overall, I liked this one a hell of a lot, same as the last two, but it's sure a weird game with a lot of stuff you can easily miss. I'd have been pretty miffed if we missed out on the good ending and the remake of the first game's map. I really can see myself going back to them all at some point, though maybe I'll just do a stream for that instead of more videos like this. :v:

That leads us down to some interesting choices as to where to go next, and I might contact an LP mod so we can update this thread to just be a general janky old FROM RPG thread. I'm having way too much fun with this. :black101:
