I recently bought a house in the Minneapolis area and we've found a ton of these dried berry looking things all over our yard and deck. They appear to be from a tree in my neighbor's yard and we wanted to figure out what they are. I assume when they fall they're normally not all dried out, but they've likely been sitting out in the yard since the fall if I had to guess since the house has been vacant for probably 9 months. Some google searching hasn't turned anything concrete up so I figured I'd ask here in case anyone knows what these are. The tree they're coming from is pretty large. The trunk is probably 3 feet across and the tree is a good 40-50 feet tall.

Someone once told me, "Time is a flat circle".
Looks like it could be a silver maple from the leaf? The "berries" might be dried up flower pods.

Yeah, the leaves said maple to me, but I didn’t realize they had flower pods. Good to know.
