I just love Jon McNaughton (https://jonmcnaughton.com/). His paintings are some of the most insane types of conservative / pro-Trump art you'll find out there. It's a guy so completely lost, a textbook case of self-righteousness and delusion. This is my favorite image so far.  What's great about it is that Trump is standing straight before the journalists, whereas in real life he leans forward like so to disguise his fat belly:  Another one I like is this one, showing Obama trampling on the Constitution:  On his website, McNaughton offers the following explanation: quote:There are many who swoon over Obama's policies of redistribution of wealth. What will the government give me? If you believe this is the proper role of government you will certainly see great CHANGE in your lifetime. McNaughton never really justifies his position by citing the parts of the Constitution that Obama violated. That's something he owes us. After all, Obama was a constitutional scholar, so if he violated it he was drat well aware of what he was doing. And this perhaps is McNaughton's cringiest work:

He is but he's a propaganda artist who arts like a renaissance painter and it's kind of hilarious. His characters have the exact same kind of overwrought poses and expressions. I genuinely really enjoy his art because it's incredibly silly. He's like if Rembrandt suffered a serious brain injury and started channeling some insane american from modern day. I always got the impression he was trying to rip off Norman Rockwell's style, that is if Rockwell put 1/4th the effort into perspective, depth of field and other technical aspects of painting a picture. Which I always think is funny, because McNaughton strikes me as the kind of person who would have dismissed Rockwell as a communist when he was alive

McNaughton's stuff is like a dream, in that objects are clearly evocative of specific things, but a little bit of analysis makes it dissolve into nonsense.

The perspective is a bit off but the tall/narrow/plain style isn't that weird. Very protestant. It's not too far off the washington national cathederal except that has a nice tiled floor.

Painting rules. I can't wait for social distancing at museums. No hordes of awkwardly-dressed German teenagers to block my view. On the other hand I think it'll be pretty hard for any American museums to survive for very long unless something big changes, but the viewing experience will be great until they collapse.
