Is he sitting down to work on it? Where is he? Look at the ceiling. He's set up his little studio in the middle of a ridiculously high vaulted hallway such that his workplace blocks all possible traffic. What an incredibly bizarre compositional choice.

OwlFancier posted:It's a cathederal. It's obviously reminicent of a cathedral, but also no cathedral has such a narrow, high-ceilinged corridor with plain exterior windows lining both sides. McNaughton's stuff is like a dream, in that objects are clearly evocative of specific things, but a little bit of analysis makes it dissolve into nonsense.
