 Gleipnir is a new spring 2020 show about a high school student who can morph into a monster with a mascot-like appearance. The explanation behind why he can morph has yet to be revealed in the anime. The show is touted as a supernatural mystery, with pronounced ecchi elements. You probably don't want to watch this one in front of the unenlightened. As of this writing, there are two aired episodes. They can be streamed on funimation. Characters Shuichi Kagaya A timid highschooler who is shown lacking drive in the first couple of episodes. He posses the ability to transform into the mascot-monster shown in the picture above. She is interested in finding out more about her sister, who can also transform into a monster. As someone who has actually been reading this manga for years I'm still baffled that it got an english release. Compounded by an adaptation that by first glance (haven't seen either episodes yet) has a solid studio working behind it. This is going to be interesting considering where the story is at with the manga and where I figure they can end with a single cour.

I was fully expecting Gleipnir getting a completely lazy adaptation focused on fanservice, similar to something like Rosario Vampire, because of how horny it is and because I didn't get the impression that the series was super popular. Instead, the studio is doing a drat good job. I have no idea if this is someone's passion project or if some higher up is a secret furry or something, but I'm liking the end result so far.

Man they are putting some serious effort behind this. I liked the expanded fight in the container yard even if it was hard to watch at times. This show is not for everyone, but if you can get into it, it's something special.

Just eyeballing some descriptions the first two episodes cover maybe the first 5 chapters. If they go for broke and cut out some stuff they could reach the mid 20s which at least could end with Claire setting fire to the mountainside. That would be one point I think could bookend a season. The first two episodes covered the entire first volume, Claire and Shuichi burning the oleanders is the midpoint of volume 5, with the rest of it being a flashback sequence I hope they're smart enough not to include.

Neat episode. Elena definitely seems like the jealous type of murdering monster. This was probably my favorite clip from the episode. I was reading the manga up to whatever was last translated after seeing this thread, it is unabashedly horny but enough potential themes to explore are being laid out that I'm interested for now. I will give the author points for (manga spoilers) having a character hang dong so it's not just the anime girls getting the nudity. Let's see the anime do that.. Most interesting thing to me so far is (more manga spoils) the appearance of a 2nd meat-fur-suit holder, said suit being identical to the MC's in form and function but just way more powerful alone.

Especially given she more or less put it to rest at around late 2012/early 2013. Toyama is still so far my fave performance on this piece so far. She makes Claire sound so delightfully sketchy. She still has a distinct nice-girl voice that she uses to portray girls who like to think of themselves as nice people. That's not to say she can't do something else, Shirase in A Place Further Than the Universe was distinctly Not Nice, and she didn't put on the HanaKana affect.

Well, I loved everything about that episode. It was a good rep. of the actual chapters. That said, I still wish the show started as the manga did, with Shuichi strangling Claire on the riverbank, because that's an image that throws up alot of questions for the entire series, which I am sure the manga will touch again at some point. Spoilered for those who might not go to read the manga. This manga was one I never expected to like, and certainly one I never expected to get an anime. Man, some sort of time loop and/or wish to change an outcome? Maybe? Although, I'm sure I could come up with theories that don't involve that at all so who knows. Curious to learn more about what a Rare is. Wonder if it's simply a coin collector whose powers involve more than one person, since Subaru called his monster(s) mom and dad. How many episodes is this going to be? Saw a few pages of the manga today and the art looked really good, very likely to pick it up once the series is over.

Right, but he claims not to have known Elena, and not to have drank anything she gave him, etc. So we've got three possibilities, any of which could be true given what we know: 1) Shuichi is lying his rear end off, had a relationship with Elena, knowingly became Dogman, but he's turned on her. Needs him to be lying in internal narration, which is possible but unlikely; 2) Shuichi had a relationship with Elena, drank the juice to be with her, but his memory's been altered by someone, possibly himself (if he did it to himself, this is the same as (1), really); 3) We've got a time loop/do-over with the same structure as Mirai Nikki -- Elena and Shuichi were a couple/team in a prior cycle, and they got enough coins to remake the world, with Elena retaining memories (and possibly some powers) from the previous cycle, based on which she dogged up Shuichi. (3) is my theory of choice right now.

I wonder how powerful Elena is, the others in her group press against her, but stop short as soon as she even hints she might lash out at them. Stronger than any individually, but not collectively? The kid was downright terrified when she snapped at him and her powers seem pretty simple but the way she phrased a sentence is really worrying. "Even if you kill me I wont be allowed to die till this is all over" now she might be bullshitting them about the extent of her powers but its entirely possible that Elena took her drink with a hyper focused desire to end the "game", to see it through to the very end. It might be that she'll just get back and keep fighting, and in a battle of attrition she can beat anyone because what are they going to do against a girl that cant die, know who you are and can turn into dust and rip your head off when you least expect it. I can't tell if this show is good or not. Episodes 2 and 7 were loving sick but at this rate there's only gonna be 1 or 2 more standout episodes left. At least the OP is a banger.

If all you are looking at is fights then you probably wont enjoy this, there's just not that many. I wanna know where the plot is going, so I'm enjoying it a lot.
