It's hilarious how obvious this is now that guys who 'couldn't cut a promo' in WWE are working in places like AEW who just let them go do their thing on camera.

That's basically it, it's probably not legal and it's been challenged before but the United States has not spent the 21st century being particularly interested in workers' rights and WWE has never faced a serious court challenge from someone with the resources to drag it out, to my recollection.

IIRC the only one who tried was Lesnar, and he only challenged the non-compete.
