You should probably rate your website using RSACi so that Internet Explorer knows it has swears, and so you can put the "We rated with RSACi" image on your page. I think they had a thing where you could register your site, but I think you could also just put some metadata in the page which IE would read. I wonder if there are any modern-day equivalents? I remember this stuff from the '90s.

When my current 25$ machine dies I'm probably going to find one like that, or maybe the one from the MTV New Music Report which could do that PLUS hold five CDs at once: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbhAvPqTadY

Take a look at http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~caswick/ for example, it has the button and if you view the source it has the META http-equiv="PICS-Label". I assume "n 0 s 0 v 0 l 0" is giving ratings for nudity, sex, violence and language content? From searching it seems like some more complicated rating tags have been created since then.

Hey old nerds, back in the day, like BACK IN THE DAY, I remember there were little buttons and graphics on vanity pages that told everyone what you liked and what you were about. I can't think of what they were called. I'd gladly make us a few, so we can all show how much we love playstation or bicycling or netscape or whatever, if someone helps me remember more about them. Wasn't there a standard size and shape for them?

I like his “cyberpet safe” badge. Cyberpets need to make a comeback. I ran a pet site when I was a kid and adopted out a few (two of which still exist on an archived site!). I also caused a small drama on someone else’s site cause they had a competition to win a “rare” cyberpet, where you had to do a quiz about the site owner - clearly rigged so only their friends could win, but I guessed every question right first and won so everyone got really salty and accused me of cheating to steal pets, obviously a dire internet crime. I got my cool pet.jpg in the end though good times

I actually bothered to spend time putting the source for my site in github and then using github actions to publish the site, using a static code generation engine called hexo which is cool and good. So its probably the most complicated 90s website I have ever done

I cut the player graphic into pieces then laid them and the embedded player out in a table in komopser and then pasted the code into neocities. Like how I assume professional webdesigners must do.
