 UKMT Solidarity Fund Monthly Update - 1st June 2020 The latter half of May has been surprisingly quiet for the Fund. I guess all potentially troubled goons have all managed to claim their furlough payments or get signed up for food deliveries? Anyway, as has held true since week 2, donations and payouts remain roughly equal (£600+ quid donated this month, holy poo poo goons) and the fund's balance continues to hover in the very healthy vicinity of £3,000.  In view of the current excellent health of the fund and the current political situation, we would like to recommend that people who are considering donating should give instead to Black Lives Matter related fundraisers. Oh dear me posted:I don't like the rhetoric, but if you look at the actual policy proposals they are about getting rid of means tests, which seems good. If they're trying to use National Insurance arguments to restore Universality, I'll wince a bit but I'll take it. Yeah I just read the actual article and it's mostly... Fine? Seems like their strategy is go for headlines that the gammonati will broadly agree with and then propose some decent changes under cover of it. Only works if you have a sympathetic media e: and is a poo poo strategy for the long term because the overton window is a thing

Incredible bunch of fussy eaters outing themselves itt. I'm middle class as hell and I'd wolf down that whole meal. I wouldn't call it a breakfast though. It's like you all never went to boarding school Or had a mentally ill mum who never remembered to cook for you Or starved for two weeks due to said mum mistaking a severe bout of colitis for gastroenteritis and telling you it'd get better if you fasted for a bit and then you weren't allowed to eat solid food in the hospital for three weeks either Man I guess my childhood was kinda hosed up huh BUT AT LEAST I HAVE THE SENSE TO EAT WHAT'S IN FRONT OF ME AND BE GRATEFUL  Unless it's mushrooms. gently caress mushrooms

Corbyn spent loving decades in the wilderness just plugging away, sticking to his principles and doing the best he could for his constituents. I don't pretend to have his doggedness but the left wing of the party is still there to support - there are 35 members of the socialist campaign group currently. They still exist, even if they are relegated to the back bench for now. But I have come close to slamming that unsubscribe button so many times now. If it's a deliberate strategy to purge the leftists from the membership it's very effective.

Well since we're not starting a new thread, here's your UKMT Solidarity Fund Monthly Update - 1st July 2020 Donations have been lower than usual over the last month, as people are rightly donating their spare funds to more urgent causes, particularly the Black Lives Matter movement. We've still been getting applications however, so the fund balance, while still healthy, has dipped below the £3k mark it's been flirting with to date.  And some overall stats since the fund came into being: Total donations: £4378.47 Total payout value: £1747.33 Number of payouts: 9 The number of payouts would be 10 but one goon did not leave us a way to contact them, and did not respond to an in-thread request for contact info. If you are that one goon who made an application and did not hear back from us, please contact us on the Discord or at the email address below! Lastly, we've had some queries about the status of our official multi-signatory bank account, as we're *still* stuck using the temporary account Irving Washington set up to get us going quickly. The simple answer is we made enquiries, and the bank never got back to us. We're going to give them a call asap, but we've been holding off during the period of uncertainty re the future of the forums, since they'll want to see a copy of the constitution and that will need to change significantly if the forums shut down. Hey Camrath my wife has put in a request for the milk chocolate fudge to make a reappearance soon. I'm not a big chocolate fan myself but I thought your dark choc was pretty outstanding, like a good rich brownie... But no, for her it's milk or nothing. Any chance of it reappearing next month?
