At first, there was only DARKNESS and EMPTINESS. Then there was COLOUR and MATTER everywhere around you, swirling in a violent maelstrom. And then it stops, and you find yourself floating above a discus of barren, unremarkable EARTH. The GREAT GAME is about to begin. --- Welcome to the Petty Gods of Something Awful! To put it short and sweet, Petty Gods is an experimental LP/CYOA set in a heavily-modded game of Crusader Kings 2. We’re basically using the CK2 engine as the setting of a godgame, with you goons playing as the eponymous gods. Gods of what? A little nameless patch of dirt, all sandy and empty at the moment, but you’re gods! You’ll be able to shape life, demand worship, foster civilizations, smite unbelievers, battle for supremacy and whatever else you can imagine! You have the power to shape a tiny disc of earth somewhere in the middle of nowhere into something else, maybe something special, something fantastic, something strange, even something awful. So let's get started! In the beginning Day One - CREATION Day Two - CHAOS Day Three - RAGE Day Four - WAR Day Five - ANNIHILATION hashashash fucked around with this message at 03:34 on Sep 11, 2020 |

RULES There’s only a couple things you really need to know:
ASPECTS First things first, when you create your god, you’ll need to have an Aspect, aka mastery over something. Every god will start with a single Aspect, like Fire or War or Thunder or whatever, but as the game progresses you’ll be able to expand your portfolio into more areas. Why does having an Aspect matter? Well, you might be gods, but you’re gods with a small G. That means you’re not all-powerful, the very opposite in fact, you’re flawed beings that are prone to blunder, slips, misjudgments and gently caress-ups. Aspects matter because whenever you take a godly action, a d100 die will be rolled to see how well it turns out, and if your action was related to your Aspect then you can roll a d20 and add that to your final roll. So for example, if the God of Pestilence sent a swarm of locusts to devour a city but only managed to roll a 50, then they could also roll a d20 and add that to their roll, improving their chances of wiping that city out. If the Goddess of Lightning tried to do the same, they’d be stuck with their 50. GODMANA Again, because you’re not omnipotent beings, there are limits to what you can do at any given time. This is represented in the form of a divine currency, let’s call it godmana for now, that can be used to affect and shape the world below. Every god will have 50 godmana at the game’s start, gaining an additional 5 points with each subsequent round, and you can use these points for all sorts of actions, as detailed below. These points are also cumulative, so you can save it up over several rounds and then blow it all on something spectacular if you like. That said, KEEP TRACK OF YOUR OWN POINTS. ACTIONS So what exactly can you do, as a god? Basically anything, broadly grouped into these 5 categories:
So, depending on your roll and engine limitations, some form of your divine will is translated into the game, which I then run in observer mode and, you guessed it, observe. GOD CREATION Okay! That’s enough to get started with, so let’s take our first steps into this new world. If you want to participate, simply mention the following:
If you want to create your own icon, feel free to do so on top of this template: If you don't, just grab one of these: Should be more than enough, but I've got a bunch more of them just in case. hashashash fucked around with this message at 00:48 on Jul 13, 2020 |

Beterin, the Two-Faced God A 1d2 will be rolled before each round. On a 1, the male aspect of Bet manifests to enact destruction on the earth. On a 2, the female aspect of Erin fosters creation. If the same aspect manifests twice in a row, the next round will automatically go to the opposite aspect. Erwin the German fucked around with this message at 11:25 on Jul 11, 2020 |

In the beginning Be! The Voice was resounding and all-encompassing, with pitch distinguishing between Nothing and Something, tone congealing into the stuffing of Everything, timbre resonating and vibrating until it settled into… You. The offspring of the Almighty. The primordial forces of the cosmos. The gods of something. Kata'an, god of Waves Bellmaker, god of Sound Kharnibolg, god of Rage Bet-Erin, two-faced god of Destruction and Creation Llerin, god of Knowledge Luxor, god of Light Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh, god of Division Mar Lorenth, god of Alcohol Khurol, god of Life Munay, god of Desire Eispas, prince of the Stars Riplastene, god of Demigods Rager, god of Celebration Um, god of Forgetfulness Gahrfeeld, lord of Sloth Athruithe Beaga, goddess of Mutation Geddon Zum, goddess of Flourishing Dagmal, god of Justice Xa, god of Heat Faber, god of Artifice Pho-En, god of Death Tse-Goa, god of Opening Greene, god of the Wilderness Golgoth, god of Oceans Wee-Aah-Pt, god of Gravity Janus, god of Fate and Prophecy And below you, a discus of earth hovers. There is no sun or moon, only pinpricks of starlight. There is no day or night, only a constant twilight. There is no life or death, only water and loam. Here, this place somewhere in the middle of everything, is a barren waste. For Now. The Voice of the Almighty is enormous, suffocating, crushing. It crashed into the gods like storm, clouded their minds in fog, battered them until all they could do was listen. I Am Old And Worn And Lost. And Everything Will End In Ten Days. Whosoever Rules Here. Rules Everywhere. The Voice echoed across Creation. A challenge. A contest. A contract. Everything ends in 5 days, and the last god standing… becomes God. hashashash fucked around with this message at 14:10 on Sep 11, 2020 |

The Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh, God(s?) of Division [0GP]+[50 Godmana Base]=[50GP] From the Division did step forth a number of gods, but it was from the act itself that the Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh were born. Did one god fail to form? Did a number too weak to survive band together as one? That is a secret only the Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh and, perhaps the creator, would know. As many, they pierced the silence, speaking in myriad tongues as was their way. "Permit-Let-Allow We-Us-Me Start-Begin-Initiate" Hands unfolding, countless arms reach deep within the world... "A-A-A Classic-Novelty-Antiquity" "Part-Split-Divide the-a-it World-Soil-All" With a grunt, the Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh would attempt to pry the World in two, dividing it between the world Above and Below: 1d100+1d20 57 Crack. "Ow-Oof-Ouch" Or put their metaphysical back out in the attempt. [Now at 20 GP] Arcanuse fucked around with this message at 00:53 on Jul 12, 2020 |

Mar Lorenth, god of Alcohol [0GP]+[50 Godmana Base]=[50GP] The world was, and that was fine and dandy, but honestly, without a party was there *really* a world? And everyone knows that a good party needs a bit of...social lubrication. Of course, the world was young and the people of the world were forced to toil all day, leaving very little time for the development of a true drink. And so, Mar Lorenth did show his favor upon one group of people, and said to them, "Look, you guys take care of the snacks, I'll handle the drinks." So he poured his power into the earth and created a wellspring of neverending wine that flowed forth from the ground. Or at least attempted to. (Roll = 33) GP = 20 EDIT: Bolded the action. Name: Riplastene Aspect: Demigods Godmana: 50 to 40 Hmph, what a bunch of weaklings down there! They needed someone to show them the ropes of real power and someone to aspire to matching. They needed a God. And, well, some of them needed the god for more... fun purposes that would have the benefits of giving their offspring power down the line. But to do all that, Riplastene needed to Incorporate a Physical Body on the mortal realm that was beautiful and terrifying to behold in equal measure. Make a physical form: 1d100 74

Dagmal, god of Justice Dagmal frowned at his feckless fellow godlings. Springs of wine and physical bodies were all well and good, but the place was empty rock. There could be no justice, he knew, if there was no life. So, he created life, causing plants, animals, and people to form and commanded them to grow, and expand throughout the earth. Godmana 20/50

Hmm, how peculiar. Wasn't there supposed to be something here? The Voice of the Almighty posted:Be! Thank you, maestro. Kata'an - god of Waves From the Voice of the Almighty emerged the stuff of the cosmos, including the petty gods of the disc. But a curious property emerged - several of the gods manifested as a more literal form of that first calling. Among them was Kata'an, born not of the sound of the Voice (for that was another), but from the vibration that lead all to vary until each and every godling took their particular form. But already it could feel itself drawn to more divine uses of its Aspect as the earth cracked in two and a neverending fountain of wine bubbled forth. As a physical form manifested upon the barren world and some mortal life to accompany it. Hmm. Actually come to think of it, the land itself was still fairly stable and unchanging all things considered. Kata'an figured that it could warp that. From this point on the lands themselves would undulate constantly, as though a roiling wave flowed through their insides. The intensity would come and go, moving across the landmasses in a predictable pattern horizontally from one side of the disc(s?) to the other, increasing then decreasing then back again, roughly corresponding to the twenty four hour cycle of the Divine Day.
