Athruithe Beaga god of Mutation

I see a vast body, its waters placid and fresh. I send power into the small and simple things, the plants of the water. Grow, change, become great and all-encompassing, hoard and multiply, choke the life from all else. I mutate the small plants of the great central sea, that the algae may bloom and bloom large, covering every surface and robbing the waters of oxygen.

CREATION

This world was not off to a good start.

It began with division, as the many-faceted spirit Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh grasped the earth with a thousand hands and attempted to pry it asunder…

Emphasis on attempted. In actuality, he barely managed to tear at the outer edges of the world before his back gave, his legs buckled, his arms snapped and his head rolled. The god of Division isn’t exactly indivisible, as it turns out.

The sundering of the world fails, though the attempt results in some tearing at the edges, creating a few Islands.

At the same time, this nameless hunk of rock was starting to annoy the god of Waves. Its sheer obstinance in the face of sweeping chaos of the cosmos was… infuriating, and determined to change that, Kata’an puffed out his cheeks and Blew, setting into motion a steady cycle of undulation.

Success! The regular back-and-forth and up-and-down rocking of the earth creates predictable periods of Storm, Flood, Respite, Heat, Damp. These are the five Seasons.

To protect the earth from being flooded by the great Waters that surround it, the god Tse-Goa chose this moment to raise a wall of mountains along its beaches, stamping his feet and chanting and commanding the world to bend to his will.

Another success! Great mountains of rock and ice are raised, and the world is now ringed by an impenetrable chain called the Spine of the World.
Though no earthly eye has ever seen it, there is rumored to be a great fortress called Tse’s Top at the summit of one of these many mountains, a place where the gods reside and watch the world below.

Khurol saw all this, but he wasn’t interested in shaping the earth. Not in the same way, at least.

Instead, the god of Life would shape nature, the nature of everything. Looking down at the world from above, his jaws cracked open… and greenery took root on the lifeless rock. Rumbles were sounded deep in his chest… and salt and mineral and sand thrummed with energy. And when his Voice boomed across the world… every particle of water and mist and cloud started moving with purpose. The land was Living.

Everything is Alive. None of it is sentient or even conscious, but the world is Living and may respond to actions in the future.

Dagmal, meanwhile, took a different route.

What the god of Justice needed was worshippers, worshippers to whom he could deal justice, and so he went to the furthest reaches of the world, and there he took loam and water into his hands and molded a creature in his own image. Naked and fleshy and blue, he tapped gently on their heads, and Humans opened their eyes for the first time.

Perfect roll, and as Life blooms, the first Sentient race awakens – Humans.

As new life was borne only days after the gods themselves, the constantly-warring aspects of a two-faced diety paused, briefly, in the face of this marvelous creation. Peering down at the teeming breathing things that now crawled on the surface of the nameless rock, Bet-Erin watched as Wild Beasts swarmed across grass and sand, watched as great forests sprung in the Easterplaces, watched as the first Humans spread across the Northlands...

And as he watched, he noticed a particularly small creature hounded and surrounded by predators… and rather than fight the bigger and stronger enemies herself, this clever creature sprayed some strange chemical on them, driving them into a violent frenzy that left them dead and her scampering away.

Laughing with delight at her daring, Bet-Erin took this Ant under his own wing, blessing her and her colony with sentience.

The Ant become the second Sentient race to inhabit the earth, largely in the Rock Country in the westlands.

In a similar vein, the Greene god of the Wilderness took interest in the large, swaying things that soon spread across the vastness of the east. He watched as they reached for the sky so slow, he watched as they were felled in their multitudes, he watched as they did nothing to defend themselves.

And taking pity on these defenseless things, he dropped to the forests and rapped on one of them. Where his knuckles touched bark, eyelids opened and arms sprouted and legs formed… but these Great Trees didn't move, didn't talk, didn't do much of anything really.

The great Trees become Sentient, but the attempt to imbue them with Intelligence fails, and they become Dull instead.

Athruithe Beaga also takes note of this sudden outpouring of life, but as these living breathing things bow their heads to their Creator, she watched in envy. And in her jealousy, she decides to give them the means to eat for themselves, fend for themselves, change for themselves, without the need for gods or deities…

But, perhaps fearing the wrath of their creator, the Sentient Peoples refuse her offer of Evolution, with the teeming mass of life turning their backs on her.

The attempt to set Evolution into motion fails, and all living creatures become Static. They conform strictly to their nature, and will not develop beyond that without godly interference.

The god Gahrfeel was also watching, but rather than take delight in these things, he was bored and exhausted by their haste in spreading and building. On a whim devoid of any determination, he decided to make a creature in his own image…

And failed. The cats that were born were soft and dull and didn't live very long.

The attempt to bestow Sentience upon Cats fails.

But they did live long enough for Athruithe Beaga, goddess of Mutation, to take a small creature, harmless and imperceptible to the eye, and warp them into something disgusting and dangerous. These mutated things, Parasites, were sent to ravage the bountiful creations of the other gods.

All living things become susceptible to Parasites, outbreaks of which are extremely deadly and can claim many lives.

Time moves slow for gods, but it still marches on, indistinguishable in the constant twilight that bathes this earth. Sentient life is still rare and worship even rarer, so seeking a pool of his own devotees, Munay reaches deep into his Mind and snatches at thought, prayer, ambition, determination, fear, envy, courage, and all the things that constitute Desire. Balling these things up and flinging them down to the earth, he hatches a race of his own.

The Changelings become the fourth Sentient race. They are mercurial beings with a varying and inconstant shape, feeding off Desire and taking nightmarish forms and striking bargains with other Peoples.
They are everywhere, and can be anyone.

The other gods watched as these living things slowly wandered across the face of the world, but in the darkness of starlight, travel was slow and life was short.

And so Xa, god of Heat, puffed up his scaled cheeks and Blew in much the same way as Kata'an, but instead of air and wind there was heat and fire, vicious and chaotic and restless, with the flames coalescing into an enormous mass of burning heat. And slowly, surely, the mass began to move, bathing the discus of earth in orange light.

The attempt to form a Sun succeeds, Xa’s Gift revolves around the earth on a regular cycle.

Luxor, god of Light, saw this and clapped in excitement. Sparks and sound sprung from his hands and echoed into the world, reverberating against the land and bouncing off Xa’s Gift, mingling with the flames and coalescing into another ball of light.

A Second Sun is created, along with a small Moon, that revolves around the earth opposite to Xa’s Gift.

And all of the sudden, the world went from darkness and starlight to a blaring, unending sunlight. It hammered down on the Ants, scurrying to their mounds in Rock Country. It set the Great Trees aflame in the Easterplaces, sending them in migration to the shadow of the Spine. It simmered down on Humans in the Northlands, forcing them to seek cover in stone caves. Mar Lorenth watched as they fled from Sunlight, and taking pity on the Humans, the god decided to reach into the earth and pull forth a fount of cooling, intoxicating wine from its depths...

But the drink of the gods can have terrible effects on mortals, and unbeknownst to the god, even the merest sip of Alcohol was enough to drive a Human reckless and mad for… days, weeks, years.

The Human People discover a sputtering and spitting Wellspring of Wine somewhere in the northlands, but the strange liquor takes a vicious, unforgiving hold on whoever drinks it.
A portion of Humans become Drunkards and Insane, and are Shunned by their own.

Faber, god of Artifice, watched as these People were ridiculed and hated and shunned, forced to wandered southways, and he decided to give the mad drunkards some purpose. He called them to a place in the Center of the World, where he cupped soil and flame for the Exiles to make something from… but the living spirits of earth and fire turned against him, lashing and thrashing at each other until all that was left was an isle of bubbling magma.

The Exiles sighted the godmade island, and as they crossed onto it, the waters that they waded through became heavier, darker, sweeter.

A Volcanic Island forms at the Centre of the World, and may Erupt at any time.
The waters surrounding the Centre of the World are transformed into Liquor Lake.

The god of Celebrations had also noticed the wild delight that overwhelmed these people upon consumption from the Wellspring... and he loved it. As they fled to sanctuary at the Centre of the World, he walked and drank and sang with them, urging them to indulge in their wildest fantasies and weaving protective spells to keep them safe from themselves. Thankful to have a guardian watching over them, the Exiled take Rager as their patron god.

The Exiled become Decadent.
A Protective Spell is weaved around the volcanic island, improving its defensibility.
The world’s first religion, the Cult of Ragers, is founded at the Cathedral of Celebration, a holy place on the slopes of the Volcano at the Centre of the World.

Another god, Eispas of the Stars, was doing much the same. But he whispered in the ears of the other Humans, those who had driven their mad kin into exile, urging them to look to the skies for answers.

And they must’ve found something up there, because Eispas of the Stars soon became the most popular god in the northlands.

The world's second religion, the Astromancer Order, is founded in the Human Settlements of the Northlands.

At the same time, the god of Rage had another way of easing the toils and sufferings of these mortals. As other Peoples scavenged for food and wood to survive the horrendous Seasons, he put a seed of rage into the hearts of the Great Trees. As other Peoples wandered and bickered aimlessly, he raised a vicious leader to rule over the Wilds. And as other Peoples lived day to day, keeping to themselves, he gave his rabble the tools to make War

Under the rule of Oakenroar, who claimed to be King of Here and There and Everything the Eye Can See, the Great Trees waged the first wars in History.

The Great Trees become Wroth and Warlike.
The Great Trees have gained a Casus Belli to expand in all directions.
The Great Trees form the first Kingdom on the planet, called the Great Wilder, under the rule of the brutal tyrant Oakenroar, who is blessed with Divine Trances.

---

As all these things happened, a worker Ant in the westerock and a family of Humans in the northlands and a few ponderous Trees in the easterplaces happened to look up at the sky at the same time. And they all saw a shooting star… no, not a shooting star, a meteorite… no, not that, a… a falling star?

Sort of. Three gods had decided to manifest as Living Gods in the mortal world, and as Riplastene and Geddon Zum and Tse-Goa descended to walk the earth, they certainly looked like stars dropping from the sky.

Riplastene landed in a grassy stretch in the empty south, his physical vessel being mildly appealing and vaguely eerie in equal measure. Without missing a beat, he began to walk.

Riplastene descends without trouble, his physical body bound to the physical laws of the realm.

Tse-Goa had a harder landing, blown off course by a Storm and driving deep into the rocky outcroppings of the westerlands.

Tse-Goa is Wounded by his landing.

Geddon Zum landed in the midst of a large group of Trees, immense figures holding sharp and painful tools of war. A heartbeat later, and the Dull creatures pounced on the goddess, their weapons rising and falling to the sounds of a dying god.

Geddon Zum lands in the middle of warparty of Great Trees, and is Killed.

By some ways of reckoning Time, it had been almost 200 years since the gods were created, by other ways it had been only a Day. And in that time, Seasons were brought into play, Life was imbued into Nature, great Forests and vast Grasslands were sprouted, two Suns and a Moon were formed, four races were granted Sentience, the earliest settlements were founded, and the first King was risen.

And now, for the first time, a god was killed.

It would not be the last.

Well that could have gone better. Mor might not have been perfectly successful in creating his well of wine, but that wouldn't stop him. He would make sure that all knew that drink was available, for any that wanted it. And so, he would have his message passed by those on the world. He would empower those that demonstrated their ability to follow him. First, he created the sect Keepers of the Drink an organization that would work towards ensuring that others were able to partake in Mar Lorenth's gifts.
The message might have been lost in translation. (Roll = 31) (5GM)

But Mar Lorenth also ensured that those who would follow his sect would be welcomed everywhere, by granting his followers the ability to turn water into hard Liquor
This power seemed to manifest better than anything else Mar Lorenth had done. (Roll = 76) (5GM)

GM = 10

Taking this for example, the first Action was closer to 50 than 0 so I called it as a failed action.

The second action was in between 50 and 100, slightly closer to the latter so it manifested in some form (Lake of Liquor) but not the way you might've wanted

Godmana: 25

The Serpent Xa looked down and was pleased at the works they and Luxor had created. Now light and heat would be available to all life as the twin suns circled the lands, allowing crops to grow and the world to be seen. But Xa saw that not all creatures were willing to share in the gifts bestowed upon them. Bandits roamed the land, claiming a portion of the path for Xa's Gift and demanding tribute to allow others to farm those lands. The Great Trees under Oakenroar stirred from the forests to threaten the peace of others.

Xa called to a collection of humans, ants, and great trees to serve as the protectors of the suns: The Wandering Flames. This group would travel alongside the suns and defend all who wished to bathe in their heat. They would worship these gifts of heat and light and defend the serpent's gift for all life on this Earth.

Oriax, God of Earth
Mana: 65

Action:

1. Initiate plate tectonics.

At first, Oriax watched. And waited. He saw his brothers and sisters in their works (and failures), saw as the consequences made themselves known. Some of them, in fact, sought to shape the earth--his earth--but he was patient, and not jealous. The earth was his domain but he would not interfere in such efforts, at least not yet.

So long as his brothers and sisters did not seek to wield the earth too far.

But even so, he was concerned.

Concerned that the earth itself might be pushed past the breaking point.

And so, he would give it flexibility, the ability--nay, the inevitability--of motion and of change.

He reached his hands and roots downward, and willed the earth into motion.

2. Create The Golem

Still, his eye could not always be observing the earth. Thus, he would create a sentinel. A being to guard the earth andd watch it develop in his stead. A being which could, in times of great need, act to preserve life and the balance of the earth.

Down, down his hand went into the deepest, darkest places in the earth. From there, he pulled forth minerals and clay, and into these he breathed a spark of his essence. This he shaped into a form tall and proud - a being of stone. Five eyes it had, each a different gem: two in front (onyx and amethyst), and one each behind (sapphire) and at either side (ruby, emerald). To this creature Oriax gave three gifts.

First, he gave it control over its own shape, that it might protect itself and adapt to any trial.

Second, the power of speech, that it might make its counsel known when called for.

Third, the power to learn and grow, as all things should, in its power and in its intelligence.

To the Golem Oriax gave one command: "Go forth and be my hand. You know my will for it is in every mote of dust and piece of earth that forms you. You are my child, so I think not to control your every act, but know you this: I watch over you. Seek my counsel when you will; at all other times, I name you Guardian of this world. Let it never be destroyed."

Remaining Mana: 65 - 30 - 5 = 30.

Commentary: If possible, I'd like to create the Golem in the south-west of the map, near the edge of the world. He can start off in a cave at the top of the mountains where that big four-lined crack is, north of the small lake at that edge of the world.

The Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh, God(s?) of Division [20GP]+[10 Turn]=[30GP]

Rolling around, a pile of fumbled limbs was a new experience for The Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh to be certain.
Sure they had lost a limb or two in surprise declarations of newfound independence now and then, but they would always realize there wasn't anywhere to go.

Until now, that is.

With a grin, The Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh, God(s?) of Division, realized they were on the cusp of something grand.

They had planned to tear themselves apart, scatter their seven (only seven?) names to the world, seven names unto seven beings, divided in flesh, loyal in mind, and united by soul.

Together they would be the Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh still, but...

After Geddon Zum perished swiftly, perhaps it would be better to scatter them so no one thing would kill them all?

...

No, The Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh would send all seven pieces of themselves to the world all at once.

The Ca-La-Ka-Ma-Ra-Na-Oh divides the seven-as-one to form the one-as-seven, seven avatars bound together and aimed towards the valley encompassed by mountains in the south-west. [-10GP]

Kata'an, god of Waves

As the earth rolled ever onwards, Kata'an saw that it was good, was satisfied, and rested - so went the First Day.

But the Cycle of Comes and Goes meant that sure enough the Second Day came, and at this point Kata'an turned its attention to such smaller things as the mortals scurrying about. It was mostly gladdened to see this, but at the end of the day, movement without purpose did not suit its needs either. So for the sake of ensuring that some pattern could be found among the chaos, Kata'an focused its presence in the western Rock Country and sang.

Kata'an's voice resonated with the Ant people, who stagnated as they were, were still builders at heart. It encouraged them to come together for the building of a single great hive, larger than anything seen so far. Kata'an's voice resonated with the stones, which rolled to congregate in imitation of the mighty boulders as long as none were hacked to pieces.

And when the reverie of song and building ended, there stood An, the First Hive and apart from its name (which could as easily be attributed to the Ants themselves) there was but one remnant of Kata'an's presence. A blessing and curse visibly pulsing with power throughout the buildings of An: "By the permission of these stones has this hive been built, they may be moved, but woe to those who break them."

But these other races, the Jons and Spiders and such, the move about too much. See them run around and try to build, to make stuff. Aren't they tired, do they not wish to rest forever? One would think they speak to each other before even having their coffee, the wretchs! I will show them the way, the path to laziness, starting with these Ants, wretched spiders! I will instill upon these Ants a hatred of work, and working will bring them nothing but misery. Instead they will constantly think of the time they are not working, when they can eat and nap and read the funny papers. These times will bring them their only happiness. They can be so much more, they can prey upon the other Jons for food, much to my and their amusement. Follow in the path of my chosen people ants, give into the never-ending nap.

This world is in flux, its very shape and temperature under constant assault from the hands of scheming gods. I shall be a refuge for my new children, I will help them adapt to every challenge and build a temple to myself here, among these islands. I build my temple of change here, where my children may live.

46

This world resists me, it is stubborn and static. I must rethink this.

Eispas, Prince of the Stars

Agitated at the floundering of His power, Eispas decided to intervene directly, to provide materials for the construction of His city: plucking a crystal star from the Heavens, he flung it into the hinterlands near his worshiper, and told his priests where they could find this wonderful thing, to build from it a city and temple to last forever. Greene, God of the Wilderness

The Greene God writhed. The leaves on its many branches bloomed into toxic flowers. Its branches expanded heavenward before cracking.

"AM I TO BE THE PARENT TO A RACE OF IDIOTS? A RACE OF SIMPLETONS? I WILL NOT ALLOW IT! IF THESE TREES REFUSE TO UNDERSTAND THE SCIENCES, I WILL GIVE THEM PRETERNATURAL KNOWLEDGE. I WILL MAKE THEM UNDERSTAND THE WORLD BEYOND THIS WORLD, OF THE GLORY OF NATURE!

Modify existing life (make trees learned): 1d100+1d20: 44

The Greene God looked down at the result of its action and, seeing its mediocrity, made all the world tremble with its rage.

"THIS WILL NOT DO. THIS WILL NOT DO!" It barked. "IF I CANNOT CHANGE THE TREES, THEN I WILL MAKE A NEW SPECIES OF MY OWN."

The Greene God turned its attention to the parasites, the fiendish creatures that had been brought into the world by the God of Mutation. These things would be the vessel of the Greene God's will. These things would bring salvation to the wilderness by taking over the minds of all those who threatened to do it harm.

"YOU WILL DO." Said Greene, waving its hand over the cats.

+45 Godmana: 65 starting total.

Khurol was pleased, for everything lived. Yet not everything knew it lived. Worse, there were those devoted to ending the lives of others for the sake of their own kind. Khorol turned his attention to a portion of the Spine of the World, touching the living mountains, granting them awareness and motility, uplifting them into full sentience. As he breathed the true life into them, he spake,

"You shall be the Firmament, the guardians of the world. Protect all that lives. Stand steadfast and stalwart against those who would conquer. Be magnanimous to those who live peaceful lives."

ASHERAH DEMANDS I FEAST, I VOTE FOR A FEAST OF FLESH

Name: Riplastene
Aspect: Demigods, Flight
Godmana: 40 - 20 - 20 + 45 = 45

Yes, this was good. From here he could take a direct hand in the affairs of this living creatures. The ants? Worthless beings, too busy in their hives and self-indulgent to be interesting rulers of the world. However, the other two major races had much to desire.

Riplastene began to walk around the world from the south to the east with his final destination in the north. He would visit the trees and the humans and give them his gifts.

As he traversed through the woods of the east, Riplastene spread pollen from his hair to reach out and form seedlings with the strongest of trees. Their children would have a divine spark, Ents would be formed that were smarter, better, faster, stronger and longer lived than other trees. They would be the natural lords of the woods and worship Riplastene as their progenitor.

Create Ent Demigod subrace: 1d100+1d20 61

With this finished, Riplastene continued his march northwards until he came upon the villages of humans nearest the forest. He reached out and touched the strongest and smartest women of the villages, ensuring their nextborns would be Angels, capable of flight, more intelligent than mere humans and better warriors than any. They would become Riplastene's swords among the humans. The humans would worship them, and the angels would worship him.

Create Angel Demigod subrace: 1d100+1d20 101

And to ensure they knew he was their lord and master, Riplastene grew wings for himself. They were made in his image and in his image they would fly

Erin was not pleased by the indolence of Her fellow demigods - the ants would need a guiding hand to ensure that they did not squander the gift of their life. And if the others were any indication, She would have to tend to matters Herself, regardless of whether it would leave them susceptible to the influence of Her hated alter ego. Better Him than the others, clearly.

Mana: -10, 35 left.

Bet-Erin manifests themselves as a walking God among mortals to directly lead the Ants, lest they give way to sloth.

  • Rolls closer to 100 are successful, the closer it is the closer it aligns with exactly what you wanted
  • Rolls closer to 0 not only fail, but usually backfire, very low rolls can mean Death

Raise your arms in the big black sky, raise your arms the highest you can, so the whole universe will glow.

Wee-Aah-Pt had failed to grant the boon of anti-gravity to the sentient races. It thought perhaps that its powers were not yet strong enough to take so broad an action. Instead, it would seek to empower only a few mortals, founding a religion to worship it known as The Laws of Attraction. These followers would be granted a mighty weapon to protect themselves. It could see the bowl-shaped curve in spacetime that marked the path of the moving Sun near the world, and knew it's followers could be given rituals to affect it. Fearsome as Xa's Gift already was, it could be made even more terrifying were its mass to fall into a singularity, creating a black hole with an event horizon with roughly the same radius. Anything that passed that boundary would never be seen again,.

Found the Laws of Attraction (religious sect) among the Human Settlements: Found the Laws of Attraction: 1d100 99

I have a bad feeling about this ha ha.

edit: Assuming I survive, because of the 99 on my first roll, I will assume the aspect of Ritual.
