Burt once threatened to ban me for racism in another GBS WWII thread because I was using abbreviations when comparing nation's pre-war manufacturing capacity. Ex. "Ger, Usa, Rus, Jap, Fra". If I recall he said, "that's intolerant and I don't stand for that kind of stuff".

~Coxy posted:How about keeping an empty clip to throw at a rock (or something) to bait the enemy into coming out? Soldiers rarely fight alone, so the odds are someone else is waiting to shoot you. Fun Fact: German tank armour (with the exception of some Stugs and Tigers sucked (as in the quality of the metal). People assume that it was a late war thing, but Russian engineers were shocked at pre-war, early, and mid-war examples they captured and tested and how brittle the armour actually was.

Hyrax Attack! posted:It was odd to learn that as they didn't go to war until 1945, Soviet freighters could sail to California to load up on lend-lease then go across the Pacific without being targeted by the Japanese. Someone who is in the know should do an effort post on the bonkers infighting between the Japanese army and navy. Makes the dysfunctional Nazi power structure look reasonable at times.

I always thought it was neat how the Germans took the Iron cross and just kept "upgrading" it as soldiers levelled up, rather than spamming guy's uniforms with a million medals and patches.
