There's an acclimatisation stop at the visitor centre half-way and you only spent about an hour at the top. I was fine but my travel companion felt the effects badly. How much an individual is susceptible to altitude effects is basically fully random. When I went up to 5000m I learned that pretty much everything is fine - no headaches, nausea, fluid symptoms or anything - although my resting heart rate is super elevated, which is concerning!
