Yes, and a year and I wanna say 8 months? They went through two winters.

First day with the M540s:

They're nice, especially now that I don't have to worry about having the correct side to clip in any more. The only problems so far are me being used to the platform when I put my foot back on, so I missed the pedal a couple times, and it's a bit harder to unclip, but that may be a combo of breaking in the pedals and muscle memory.

That being said, how good are the Fly Pedals conversion platforms? I'm debating that and PD-T8000s for when I go back to winter mode.

kimbo305 posted:

That should be solely determined by the tension settings; check where in the range the pedals are set to.

Its the black cleats, so I think I'm pulling my foot up a little like I used to, instead of simply twisting out. I noticed that a few times so I'm chalking it up to muscle memory.

BeastPussy posted:

I have the Fly Pedals V2 and they've done their job the couple of times I've used them. My experience with them is very limited but I'm happy to have them. Downsides are that they weight one side and need to be flipped every time you take your foot off and they add a little height to the pedals, throwing off your fit a bit.

Alright, might get those instead of a second set of pedals.

Now watch me get that second set anyway for the commuter.

Had to replace my Wahoo speed sensor battery already, and the strap for the mount was so tight the middle band snapped.

I asked this in the commuting thread, but does anyone know of any tubeless, studded 700x38c tires?

Thanks

It's below 30 out.

Naturally I banged out 54 miles, outside. Because gently caress you nature, I do what I please.

gently caress you 2020, making me forget my water bottles, then making me change a tube midway through my ride today.

Oh gently caress me, 45nrth makes Gravdals in tubeless now.

Ok, proper 2020 post:
-made my goal of 5k miles, and did a handful of metrics.
-ran a bit out of steam in November due to a couple reasons
-I'm probably in the best shape of my life right now. I didn't think going into 2020 I would be doing 40-50 miles in freezing cold by the end.
-learned the glory of tubeless
-gravel is cool and good

Goals for next year:
-6k miles
-150k feet climbed
-get back to 4 hour metric form
-do an imperial century.

I don't know where you live that doing over 1k feet in 40 miles is "flat".

Real talk, for the cost of one of those, you could buy a real bike, accessories, and a trainer, and you get the benefit of a bike you can use outside when the weather is better for you.

Or you can be insane like me and ride year round, even when it's below freezing out.

My heart has gotten to the point where apparently I'm only burning 1700 calories on a metric, half of that going into a relatively stiff wind.

Yeah that's bullshit, and no I don't have a power meter, but I'm seriously tempted now.

Banged out another metric.

At 3:59:59 time of hitting 62 miles.

Three day total: 176.8 miles.

Please remove my legs.

(Also Garmin, with only a heart rate strap, said that I burned all of 2k calories on that 80 miler. My rear end I burned only 2k calories)

3 metrics (one of which was 80 miles) in a week. 240 miles all told.

iospace
Jan 19, 2038

Yeah I could have gone a bit faster and pulled off 69 miles but I was running low on water and I've already experienced heat exhaustion once in my life, which is the definition of "enough times".
