They have very similar character designs. There aren't a lot of super heroes with spiky hair and a light blue-green skin tone.   Maybe Pajama Sam just slowly went insane during his constant adventures with talking food and negotiating toilet plunger unions until he became Freakazoid before inhabiting Dexter Douglas. Maybe they're related?
