If there were an alliance, would that make it possible for those of us who joined the wrong corp (XBUX) to get in on all this sweet discounted ship action? There's a lot of talk about cool stuff and I'm in a corp that doesn't even have offices anywhere.

Or should I just wait three days until I end up being a CEO somewhere because of the inevitable failure cascade?

The discounted ships are just a bot in discord, doesn't matter what corp you're in. Now that xbux has paid off its debt I assume we'll set up hangars pretty soon.

I really wish it were possible to set up a longer skill queue in this game. Even if you had to come back in every 24 hours to hit some button to keep it going, having to go in and tinker with it constantly whenever you want to fit some low-level skills in with the 100-hour one you're working on and completely forgetting what the hell you were trying to do in the first place gets a little frustrating. At least the ability to sneak those shorter ones into the front would be good (seeing as you get the same effect by just emptying the queue and redoing it with the short skill first).

I'm pretty sure it's somewhat intentional to make duo omega feel super convenient since you can just have an empty skill queue all the time and then when you have enough points expedite a skill and then back to empty skilling.

Yeah, like, I'm absolutely down with the lowsec guns being hilariously lethal. Lowsec gate camps were always the actual boring nonsense of Online for everyone involved. It always felt weird that lowsec was "null, but with a few annoying guns and number go down if you're a baddie" rather than "yeah you can kind of hide in lowsec and do poo poo off the beaten path, but if you just walk up to The Man you're going to get your cloaca remodeled".

I'm not even entirely unsympathetic to some of the autopilot stuff (and it's made me a lot more careful about taking my Maller into null) but it's really a necessary step if they want the nullsec territory game to be A Thing in Echoes. It is what it is and we'll adapt. Now, the real question you might want to ask is why it took four weeks into launch to change it after the problem was evidently reported on extensively in the beta phases...

It's somewhat believable that the "check to see if you can warp when the warp button is pressed and never again" was pretty heavily embedded and the refactor took a while to add "also check when they actually enter warp." You can sort of tell because even now it doesn't just stop you from entering warp it actually has you stop aligning and go to 0 m/s like you pressed the stop engine button (which I'm sure is what it does.)

I haven't been scrambled yet but it actually sets your speed to 0? That seems like a bug.

It only does it if you've already pressed warp and are in the process of aligning when you get scrammed, if you're just flying around it just puts the debuff on you and if you try to warp it says you can't.

Is there a reason we did that? Who knows when ammo will be a thing, but I'm kinda regretting sticking to Amarr ships at the moment.

Why? They're pretty good and they counter the existing shield/missile meta very hard.

Dumb question time

In null if I pop someone can I dock at a null station of use a jumpgate with the crime timer?

You can't jump or dock immediately after you aggress someone, but the timer isn't that long, just prevents docking games/following someone through a gate if you attack and they don't.

Well, Toilet Eve is a success, I guess. Multiple systems in Metropolis and The Forge are at their 1000 player limit, and the neighboring systems have 600 people sitting on each feeder gate ( this is at 2pm Pacific time). Travel in the area is impossible without adding 30 jumps on every trip. I guess I’ll do missions later!

I think you'll find this game is super dead because you can't auto pilot through nullsec in a Kyros with the app closed.

Honestly if there's any important channel to read it's announcements. I wouldn't have known T6 ships were free otherwise.

Did the first part of Spark of Rebellion, and holy poo poo, having 13(?) ships thrown at me was unexpected. Definitely had to use pulse lasers for tracking speed. The warp-out-warp-in-at-100km trick was pretty much obligatory. Gonna try strapping on an armour plate and probably another armour hardener.

Part 2 wave 3 has 27 or so. It's definitely worth hanging out way off from the center of the anom your first few times to get a feel for it.

You were the combative ones. I ended up following the instructions and authing properly anyways but after several of you started getting accusatory, nothing was good enough. Dissecting my post history to see if i was an Authentic® Certified© Goon™, accusing me of stealing SA accounts, interrogating me as to who I knew and when, and other crazy poo poo.

I guess it's a pretty horrible offense if nostalgia brought you back, which used to be acceptable but apparently is now a fatal cultural impurity hurf blurf. I was the spymaster in our Second Galaxy corp while we were waiting for Echoes to come out. I pulled off the first cap ship theft in that game with my alt ProfessorStupid while also making that game horribly unplayable for pubbies at the start of this year. Blake was asking me for spy help in DMs hours before he joined in the dogpile and I'm not even sure if he realized he was both attacking and asking for help from the same person, which is a great start for any fledgling intelligence agency!

I'm not mad so much as I am weirded out by the suddenness and the level of hostility last night. It looks like I'm explicitly banned from the discord now and can't rejoin, so if any goons in other alliances reading this need a spymaster I'm a free agent now.

And Darius JOHNSON was a better CEO than The Mittani ever was or will be. We should have kept our "no mittanis allowed" policy instead of seeking his blessing for this corp.

Well, congrats on finding your account and your first post in a decade. It's obvious you were super engaged with our corp since you didn't seem to notice anything at all that was happening.

None of this was a problem for any of the many iterations of these drama filled corps until you or whoever took over and suddenly it is. Anyways, I would be in the alliance right now also if you accepted the regular SA auth that I did with the bot, but I clearly did not pass the additional goon culture purity tests. Looks like you kicked one of the previous CEOs last night too, and you probably didn't even know who he was either.

We knew who the other CEO was, but they weren't a poster either, so they didn't get to stay. No one cares what you did in second galaxies of all games, what the gently caress.

i called the nazi that controls the GDN bot an rear end in a top hat at one point and got blacklisted from it, is there no other way to get into the E:E goon group?

We only really use it to verify that the discord account is actually connected to the SA account profile you're sending us the link for, otherwise we'd have to do some BS where you put a string into your profile like GDN does.

Just started this because I am stuck in quarantine with nothing else to do. Is there any reason not to spend my free points?

Also is there any reason not to join a Corp? Doubt I’ll play for long but who knows.

It's sometimes worth saving your free points for when you hit the next tier if there's something you can't put points into, Cruisers at T5, BCs at T7 mostly. You hit T5 pretty much instantly though if you join a corp.

Jesus I joined the discord and there is a whole lot of stuff I don't understand going on in there. Is there a place for idiots like me to just press buttons on my phone when I'm pooping and still contribute somehow? Does it matter which goon corp I join? Regbot suggested one, but I don't know if I'm gonna go combat or industrial yet and that seems to be the main differentiation. This game is a lot more advanced than I initially expected it to be.

Also the wiki just asks me to authorize with my discord over and over again but never lets me see anything, but that could just be me being an idiot with discord or something. I'm basically just looking for some newbie guides for making money and picking skills.

Eve Echoes has a much steeper learning curve than most phone games. It's dumbed down EO, sure, but EO is insanely complicated and it only dumbs it down a little. The wiki should allow you to authenticate through discord? You might have to click login a few times to get it to work, we just switched over to discord auth last night.

Once you auth successfully, you can read the gosling guide. More generally you probably want to get some destroyer skills to start, skip frigates entirely. Get a free Coercer Navy I ssue/Coercer 2 to play with, then start skilling into cruisers and pick up an Omen. You can order free boats from #boats-r-us in discord, you can ask in #newbie-questions-skills-and-fits and someone will probably be happy to help you. We're still trying to rope someone into being our new player helper.

You'll need the basic omega to receive the free ships, though there maybe Coercer 2s just in hangars you can pull out even as an alpha. As far as corps go it's probably better to just go into HAUS/XBUX to start and switch to MEAN later if you really want to be an industrialist.

There's probably different stuff you can do if you want to mine, I don't mine.
