What's that? It's a new thread? Finally, it's autumn (according to the deep state ), the madness of Covid-19 has subsided and we can look forward to some normalcy... ...oh no. [Source: Imperial College Department of We're All hosed] So after school closure and a half arsed lockdown we've followed that first part of the green curve pretty much exactly, and despite large protests in London against a second wave, SARS-CoV-2 has not yet issued a response. Like I could understand protesting against the lockdown, and demanding mandatory masks and hand washing and surface cleansing until there's a vaccine. Or I could understand protesting against masking and cleansing, and demanding a full lockdown until there's a vaccine, there's enough economic trickery that we could manage it with some rationing. I could even understand asking for the vaccine to be rushed, just to get past masking and lockdown, even if that's ill advised. But the only way that protesting against the lockdown, and masks, and a vaccine (and a second wave 🤔) makes any sense at all is if they're all just tired of it and can't face up to that not meaning that it isn't over.

Like even if you were doing a comedy set in First Dynasty Egypt or the Paleocene or something you'd have to pepper it with a mixture of pop-historical things that you think your audience already knows about the scenario and relatable modern day situations. If you can only view things through broke-brained culture war memes though, that's dirty Marxist indoctrination.

So your main choice is probably how much you want to spend to have it not melt or set your house on fire. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-jmSjy2ArM

He does raise a valid point about thermostat controls too, the heater is always going to be hotter than the room, so a thermostat on the heater body, whether it's a fine tuned digital one or a simple bimetallic strip will always shut off too soon. You want a thermostat away from the heater. Something like this. re: incandescent lights, I remember during winter we'd put the big light on in the bedroom an hour before bed and it made a significant difference, especially in the single glazing days. A 40W bulb on all the time is enough to keep water from freezing in a shed too (depends on the type obviously, but just as a general observation). Even older, more terrible sources of light are even better heaters, I had a big Aladdin oil lamp in the front room when I first moved in here and the boiler was terrible. Everything they make better in winter they'd make worse in summer though.

You'll need the equivalent training courses to HGV to operate something like that on the roads. Which of course doesn't stop HGV drivers from doing stuff like that. Not sure if the separate BFG Driving Licence is still a thing, but the army used to teach driving to a lot of other public bodies (fire brigades with large vehicles, Defender training for the GPO etc.)

It's funny that Leary committed the exact same failure of imagination though, his big idea was "if everyone did psychedelic drugs then we'd all tune in and there'd be a lot less problems and we'd be more connected." Which suffers from a white guy standpoint issue, because everyone from Ernst Jόnger to Atomwaffen did a ton of psychedelics and it didn't stop any of them being racist fucksticks.
