Also this is exactly what it is. It's a monster from the game Monster Hunter who is pretty infamous for being incredibly difficult and aggressive, but you can trivialize him temporarily by chopping his tail off which will make him go and chow down on it. Since the tail is a monster part and not a food item it won't disappear, so it'll just stay there in the arena and he'll occasionally go munch on it as long as nobody carves it for parts and makes it despawn.
