Because I'm a cynical rear end in a top hat I am dubious of all the progressive things that the democrats could do and instead am wondering about what two centrists and a party of old donor-class appealing representatives would actually want to do. We know that Democrats think that everything was great under Obama so anything that doesn't benefit the middle upper class is out. I figure that a solid starting ground would be looking at what benefits the party but doesn't change the status quo so in my opinion I think statehood to Puerto Rico and Washington DC are in. Single payer healthcare and tax reform are definitely out. What are the slam dunk progressive issues embraced by twitter that will be dead and rotten in the ditch one month in to a democrat super-majority? edit - gently caress i hosed up and didn't make it a multiple option poll cowofwar has issued a correction as of 04:26 on Oct 15, 2020 |

Continue 90% of Trump's policies but probably do more measures against COVID. Then let healthcare and income inequality erode further and lose to a pure fascist Republican in 2024.

the only thing they'll actually do is eliminate the cap on SALT deductions (which only helps rich people in expensive areas) and prop up dying industries like airlines so the execs can loot even more on their way out.

My best case scenario is making gerrymandering and disenfranchisement much more difficult. The mainstream dems are delusional enough to think this will result in gains for establishment democrats and not progressives. I doubt it though.

There will be a media blackout on anything they could actually address and everything else will be blamed on republican obstinance

They'll pull out of the peace talks with the Taliban and up the number of US troops in Afghanistan citing "conditions on the ground" and claim it was all a stunt by a well known Russian stooge anyway. But don't worry, Dems will allow transgender service members again to die in the forever war. edit: Oh and also reinstate the individual mandate tax and literally nothing else healthcare wise. The healthcare crisis will be declared solved. SgtMongoose has issued a correction as of 04:17 on Oct 16, 2020 |
