I was in UK almost a decade ago when Jamie Oliver did that whole chicken nuggets with British kids (not the viral video), and it hit harder then because that happened around the time of the iceland (the frozen food chain) fiasco where they discovered beef burgers contained horse meat. It was also part of a series that channel 4 was doing where they showed frozen chicken drumsticks injected with saline water and british chocolates were made with palm oil (a huge rhetoric they harped on was that the plantations murder orangutans). To be fair food production knowledge is not as widespread now compared to the time, I didn't know he had such a stick up his rear end over nuggets for that long lol Also that haze video is a must watch, that sex worker scene is somehow the least comfortable thing out of all the nonsensical edge lord poo poo in the game

He's gotten married since and I think his wife makes him watch normal movies now, but I've always wondered how the hell anybody could consume entertainment the way he did

You also usually don't know most of a person's life unless they make it front and center and even those you won't know about what they choose not to present (see : tons of family channels). I used to watch a lot of simply dumpling for his food travel video for years until the pandemic made traveling no longer viable, and I only last year found out he was a falungong weirdo who made his fortune through kids educational content and may be the kind of guy who fucks his groupies

Yeah, like the groupie thing is unverified but in some videos you will see him with one attractive girl after another and it's purely conjecture, which is why I said "may be" but apparently some people have complained of him before. The falungong thing I only knew because uncle Roger, the guy who got viral making fun of a BBC TV cook making fried rice, got into controversy when he collaborated with Mike and his Chinese viewers got mad. Tgere were hints of this when you notice he never goes to China. all the socmed platforms value interactions more than anything else and you downvoting/disliking/giving negative comments or reporting them actually count as increased engagement I posted ages ago in another thread explaining that the Facebook advertisement algorithm and reporting systems are absolutely broken: 1. I got normal adverts targeted at my demographic (food, furniture, computers, mattresses) in English/Chinese everywhere except my workplace (at the time) 2. My workplace was close to a bunch of construction sites, and being in Malaysia, a large number of construction workers are Bangladesh migrants 3. When I reached my workplace all my adverts turned into Bangladesh scam videos in their language, highlighting getting rich, wives, divine blessings / interventions, or mansions. Once I left for home or elsewhere, these adverts turned to the ones in Item 1 4. I would get one or two at first among a bunch of normal adverts 5. The videos ate up mobile data and cache space, so I started reporting them as "not relevant to my interest" to Facebook 6. Facebook registered these reports as interactions, which meant I was interested in seeing more of them 7. All my adverts on Facebook when I was at my workplace became Bangladesh scams 8. Being frustrated, I reported more of them 9. All my adverts on Facebook when I'm everywhere in the world became Bangladesh scams 10. This only stopped when lockdown happened and I stopped looking at Facebook on the phone and could use a laptop with ublock on The moral may be "don't use facebook" but every single socmed platform is like this

This goes on until I finally stop watching youtube but put on a few videos titled "12 HOUR ASMR CHAKRA CLEANSING SOUND BATH FOR SLEEP/STUDY/RELAX" over several nights when I go to bed, and allow my feed to be dominated by videos of people twirling fingers around singing bowls. I click a few more of those sound bath videos until one night they don't help with my sleep, so I groggily click on something called "UNLEASH YOUR INNER SOUL DMT RELEASE PSYCHEDELIA", which prompts youtube to think, aha, this dude loves some weed content, so I get "chill tunes to smoke bongs to while naked" which is cool - - until one of the channels producing those content posts "SLEEP TO THIS 5 HOUR MIX TO BECOME RICH AND MAKE MONEY" (I'm paraphrasing the title, but this video exists), and then I click that out of curiosity and discover it is the same track as the DMT RELEASE video but on reverb and with slideshows of money.jpg with the photobucket watermark still intact. And then I get MLM videos and yacht reviews. It's one month later, and Shapiro's channel reappears on my feed. the moral is to use hbomberguy's youtube extension to disable these right wing content, so what happened to me in reality was a bunch of video game streamers i don't care for. I used smolben as an example because it was the most visceral and off-putting one.

Re bioshock infinite don't forget they made one final dlc that tries to tie everything up together and it was done with almost every worst narrative choices possible, which includes (big spoilers for an old game series) Retcon everything so everything is caused by the super God character Elizabeth Elizabeth having all her omnipotence taken away because she's upset she may have had a random little sister killed in another dlc, buried at sea The ending of buried at sea had the potential of making Elizabeth an interesting monstrous character (which was already hinted at in the ending of infinite), but they needed to make her a boring Disney princess like Belle so they had to rehabilitate her image for some drat reason The little sister has no agency other than "to be saved by Elizabeth" so when Elizabeth died in the end for her the player goes "wait what was that whole thing for?" Them realizing how bad the daisy heel turn was they had to add a scene where other omnipotent characters tell daisy she has to act evil and be killed in order for the greater good : a white girl to become a God Making Elizabeth responsible for informing atlas the "would you kindly" key phrase that Manchurian candidates the first game protagonist, despite that not being a plot hole to fill in the first game Somehow they conveniently forgot the events of the second game and Minerva 's den ? Which would be interesting to explore but it smacks so much of "we don't want to acknowledge Team B' s work even though people recognized it having the superior game play (and in Minerva 's case, story) to the first game" its hard to ignore Even infinite had some horrible plot beats outside the daisy problem, like just having to tie everything to the first game so Songbird turns from a potential interesting nemesis - like boss in the trailer to a literal reinterpretation of the Big Daddy from bioshock 1 that has no function outside cutscenes. And of course the loving ghost buster fight against the dead wife of Comstock, just why I really enjoyed the bioshock series on face value but that last dlc was so bad it killed my interest in those settings and characters, but apparently the next game set in an antarctic Randian city may make reference to the first game (again)

To give them credit the opening montage of infinite, including that barbershop quartet singing God Only Knows, and every time you get to breathe and take in all the environmental details like the museum, beach, and the zeppelin, were great. Too bad about the actual plot other than "the follies of exploring multiple dimensions for your (booker / Comstock) own gain makes every single person's life worse". I don't know what Levine is doing now other than writing bad screenplays (apparently he did at least one episode of the new twilight zone) but I won't be surprised if he introduces big daddy nfts
