Then again, I'm a lifelong Metal Gear Solid 2 fan and anybody active in the MGS fandom in the 2000s knows that game was reviled pretty much everywhere. Then something happened around 2011-2014 and people realized "holy this, that game was amazing."

It does leave a terrible impression on the first go round if you loved MGS1.

How's Raiden is supposed to be the audience stand in when everyone playing thought "It's your anniversary, dumbass,"

The overly drawn out and numerous Columbo mysteries of Ocelot's loyalties,

All things you want to be doing, from chasing Liquid to succeeding at anything are happening off screen, you're left always hoping you'll cut back to playing as Solid.

When you have the whole picture going back in it works brilliantly. If you were hoping for the same enjoyment on every level including the surface, like in the first it's irksome.

*edit* poo poo, they're right, Tig as the lead would have made the whole thing so much better!

The Fabelmans was a good example of a self indulgent movie that's good at least, yea. Plus as eye rolly as 'Steven Spielberg makes a movie about Not-Steven Spielberg' can be at least to his credit near everyone asked about it did go 'oh yea that's legit we did know he was a gifted filmmaker pretty much from the start' so I guess we can't fault a guy for being a genuine prodigy who knew how to use art to express himself fairly early on.

Is there a sequence where Fabelman directs Columbo?

Someone could easily say some scifi mumbo jumbo about how you have to have a big ship with a big enough hyper drive to do real damage so whatever. I think it still fits into a WW2-esque analogue because it's like asking why the big battle ships don't just ram into the aircraft carriers to sink them every time?

All it needed an overdub of someone yelling from offscreen "The interdiction field is down."

Then they would have... well not shut up obviously but focused on something else.

That’s like the thing they did right. The combat and the missing story are the bad parts. They even have those green Coleman branded camping plates. That game rules.

Also Noctis’ fishing getup you unlock rules. Like emo Red Green.

I always got the feeling that the favourable demo reaction of "Oh, literal roadtrip with your friends, that could be neat" caused one last lurch in development to lean into that aspect. Mind, the endgame big rear end sacrifice and tragic what-if happy scene being completely undercut by the final short story kinda ruins it. Hmm, second time that happened with the franchise, actually. Anyone have that hilarious The Dark Id illustration of that?

Okay, I have to ask, what the gently caress is up with this Quentin guy??

Some people interpreted his extremely pointed 'avoidance' of mentioning Dan Schneider (like, it was so obviously drawing attention to Schneider that it got me to look up who the guy even was in the first video) as sincerely not wanting to have that conversation at all instead of very clearly saving him for the climax of this series.

Others got that that was what he was doing but still objected to that method.

Others just thought it was dumb to spend dozens of hours on thinner and thinner quantities of TV episodes.

Others bemoan him shifting into this format vs his old style.

And others don't mind the length or content of the videos, they wish they were out sooner.
