I don't know what Babysitter Super Sleuth is specifically referring to, but with Cyberpunk 20XX (and also Shadowrun in a similar vein) both "balance" the installation of cyber augments by baking into the mechanics certain ways it dissociates you from your humanity or otherwise removes you from being "natural". In the Cyberpunk RPGs you usually have an Empathy score that goes down as you get more augments, and if your Empathy score hits 0, you enter a cyber-psychosis killing state and the character reverts to a GM-controlled NPC. This is kind of lovely, given plenty of people who do have modern day "augments" or artificial limbs manage not to do this.

The way I read it was they're probably replacing/augmenting parts of the player's brain as well in order to control those limbs with cannons/blades/claws/etc, and when their Empathy score ticks down to 0 that means there's nothing of the player's brain left so they become an automated killing machine.

South Park's shown a willingness to evolve over the years and let their characters change to open up new story possibilities. Especially with their change to make events stick week-to-week instead of resetting each episode. The Simpsons has only done that VERY rarely over its thirty-year (:corsair:) run. And the only one that's ever really stuck, to my knowledge, is Maude's death. Something I think The Simpsons sorely needs to do is just pull a time-skip of, say, about five years to shuffle things about and re-plant some seeds for storylines out of that skipped period.

Exactly, it's trivially easy for a company with Disney's resources to dress up a convincing double and ADR Hamill's voice in. And then you wouldn't be stuck with a weird CGI object that spends a very emotional scene rooted to the floor with a blank stare. The only reason I'm not as offended by the Luke CGI as I am with Tarkin is that at least Hamill is still around to give his blessing for them to CGI his likeness. Using CGI to recreate long dead actors like they did with Cushing just feels incredibly tasteless to me.

CGI Leia in Rise of Skywalker is incredibly tasteless. They at least had some semi-relevant unused dialogue to use with Cushing iirc, but for Leia it's all random cut dialogue with zero relevance they're trying to hamfistedly force into some kind of context.

And fail miserably at it.

Cant be worse than that one episode of the Sopranos.

Carrie Fisher passed away with ample time to write around her death with some manner of dignity and respect. Instead the film devotes three characters (including Rose Tico) to a full-time job of sitting around and taking random cut lines to try to make them work in context several times over the course of the movie. "What's that Lassie Leia, we should always trust a droid? Boy-howdy kids, that sure is relevant to what's going on right this instant!"

The stuff at the start with Rey running the training course is actually pretty passable I'll admit, but after everyone's left the hideout to get the plot rolling every now and then the story just cuts back to the Stall-for-Time Leia Players trying to prop her up for another macabre puppet show for no good reason.

Yeah definitely that too, that the writers just couldn't be assed to write Leia out of their story and had to force her into a major role even if it meant abusing every scrap of remaining cut content they had from her and CGI'ing Fisher's likeness when she was so recently deceased was inexcusable. The whole idea of CGI'd dead actors - even with the blessings of their estates - is wholly off-putting to me unless it is the briefest of brief shots. Like if you want to CGI reconstruct young Hamill or Fisher for a photo a character is holding or something then fine, but as soon as you actually try to put them in a scene with dialogue you lose all sympathy from me.

I know the writers had no possible way of knowing Fisher of all people would be the one of the original Star Wars trio to die first, but in retrospect it's really unfortunate Holdo gets introduced and killed off within one movie because they created a really good "passing the torch" character for Leia and then immediately squandered it.

I was honestly perfectly fine with it in Rogue One. CGI Leia there is a brief scene and serves as a bridge directly into A New Hope. I also really liked them salvaging some old unused bits from the Death Star run to include some of the X-Wing pilots in the shield attack :allears:.

The ending of The Mandalorian Season 2 Ehhhhhh, I'm not a fan of it but I'm okay with it as well in this instance as it's mostly in the background of the scene proper rather than shoved in the audience's face (Look, it's Luke!... and now back to the big goodbye scene!). If it was gonna be anyone picking up Grogu it'd have to be Luke anyway because there's a few too many focus-stealing Jedi-related questions to raise for a season-finale in a Mandalorian show if it was anyone else known in broader canon or pulled out of Legends. And they at least got Mark Hamil to voice "himself" for it.

If you've played literally other Souls or Soulslike game it really feels like they only had one described to them second-hand and didn't actually play any themselves when developing Fallen Order. It's fundamentally built well, it's just not built... right, if that makes sense? All the pieces are technically there, but they didn't pick up the lessons learned in other similar games to make it actually play well (eg; actually being able to dodge without your opponent pivoting on a dime mid-charge).

Cutting out part of the pokedex I'm mixed on, because obviously they'd add more back in with DLC, but it does kind of suck to have to pay to access some pokemon like that. And even after that there's still like around 300ish that aren't available. Maybe it is partially out of the short turnaround time, too, and not having the time to port every pokemon model to the Switch games, but I don't know I'm not optimistic about having free access to every pokemon ever at once again. And part of that is that they're incentivized to cut them out and sell them back to you later, which does kind of stink.

The big hump was getting into full 3D game development with SW/SH coming from the "2.5D" games. Basic core gameplay comes first, then comes the fancy nice-to-haves like your pokemon following you. What's important is once those are done, they're theoretically done forever and should roll into the next game from the get-go. Getting pokemon in isn't about "cutting them out", it should realistically look like a checklist of the 3D model, moveset review, and animations (of which there's gonna be, what, 4-5 maybe for anything that isn't a starter or Legendary?). And again once it's in, it's theoretically in forever.

It doesn't even matter if you aren't able to catch all 900-odd Pokemon in a game now, because that's what Pokemon Home is for.
