The best part is that Pfizer is not part of Operation Warp Speed. It looks like they're going to take the bounty on the vaccine still, but Trump had literally nothing to do with them. Like, he had nothing to do with any of them, but even more nothing with Pfizer.

I hope y'all are right about Trump just pitching a huge fit that will be sound and fury signifying nothing, I really and truly do. What you need to understand, at least for me and I'm sure at least a few other people doomposting, is that the last four years have sucked really, really, really loving hard. For the past four years, the Executive Cheeto has been in one scandal after another- and every time, y'all said the same thing. "There's no way he'll be wriggling out of this one! It's just absolutely impossible. He'll have to face the consequences of his actions, and we will drink deep of his tears and listen to his lamentations." Except he did. Again and again, justice failed, he did not face any consequences, and he continued on his merry way loving over my country. We can't get our hopes up anymore, we've been hurt too many times at this point. Only when January is here and the electors have done their work will we be able to relax.

What amazes me is how older liberals don't understand politics at all. Like, at all. These motherfuckers actually got civics classes and they understand nothing. My mom did not know how the electoral college works. She thought it spills over. My boss is freaking out about Trump. She views what the Republicans are doing about Trump's legal challenges as effective. She was appalled that Mitch McConnell would insult Democrats yesterday. I was telling my brother yesterday, but I think since they're both white (I'm mixed race) that they just assume the system was fair and are shocked to find out it isn't. My boss was saying how AOC should shut up yesterday because things need to move slowly and it's easier to win people over if you're nice. Maybe that's why McConnell shook her so much, as well as what the other Republicans are doing. I think my boss really thought Trump is an anomaly and that there are good Republicans. Sorry, there isn't. We're tax accountants and we were going over Biden's tax plan. She liked some of it but felt things like the high capital gains and increased social security tax was unfair. Why? She often complains taxes are unfair and refuses to believe me when I tell her something she doesn't want to believe is true. She searches and tries to find alternatives and honestly believes she will find "a fair" and sensible answer. Why this rant? I think it illustrates a real generational problem plaguing leftists. We know the system is an imperialistic capitalist monster that feeds on corpses and blood. They assume that the system is fair and any deviations from that is an irregularity. My mom is a little better but she's middle class. My boss is a rich liberal and lives in fantasy land. My solution? Fix voter disfranchisment by winning small elections here and there and then energize and engage those who know life isn't fair by giving them positive and real change that directly affects them. Tl;dr gently caress whitey, get people to vote, do leftist policy

Well, that's the way it's supposed to be and how the government is set up to function. Both sides compromising for the good of the nation and assuming good faith from your opponents. It wasn't that long ago that the Congressional leaders of the losing party would say things like, "The new President's party has won. He deserves to have his cabinet and a chance to enact his agenda. We won't stand in his way." People who are old enough to remember that really wish it would return because respectful politics like that is a whole lot easier for everyone to deal with. I have to remind a lot of people that the current political polarization is not an accident, it's not something that just happened, it's a deliberate electoral tactic that Republicans have employed. They generally don't like hearing that, because they also tend to be Tom Friedman "both-sides" devotees and aren't capable of analyzing the situation and assigning guilt as is appropriate. They just blame everyone for being so mean.
