Biden with a republican senate just seems like a pointless endeavour so well done America.

Think hard about what Biden and a Republican senate would find common ground on

I don't think that. But what will be let's say "interesting" to see is how this electorate looks once you reduce turnout. Is it going to be easier for Republicans to hang on to these voters, or easier for Democrats? Traditionally Republicans are more reliable voters, but maybe that will change now that they've got their Supreme Court and if Trump isn't on the ballot. On the other hand "this is the most important election of our lives" is going to be a tough sell after yet another four years of neoliberal austerity and no outlet for complete alienation from social and political life in this country for everyone who isn't a billionaire.

Traditionally this is the part of the collapse where being able to provide armed escort to get your voters to the polls and keep them from being attacked by enemy partisans starts to become an important part of the get out the vote efforts.

it's absolutely horrifying to think that this was necessary in America and your post actually made it feel real to me - that Trump's early call, his entire behavior, and his insane supporters essentially attempted to and are still attempting to perform a coup

Here's something to think about : is it a coup if a few ultra-right stochastic terrorists drive their trucks through a crowd of people standing to vote in a few key precincts, kill a dozen or so people, scare tens of thousands of people in a concentrated dark blue area into fleeing without voting, the Republican gov/SoS refuses to allow any extension to voting because it's not legally required for them to do that, and the Republican nominee who was tacitly calling for such tactics assumes office as a result?

Hint: nope.

Howley sounds like an idiot who doesn't understand what's happening. Like that time they all made up a secret memo wit damning evidence they couldn't talk about and then a bunch of them demanded it get declassified.

It makes perfect sense if you read these actions through the lens of line-readings in a play about America being undermined and destroyed by seditious elements and not as policymaking.
