If you're already dismantling the USA then it may as well be left together but the states redrawn into fewer, huge semi-autonomous zones who then create regional zones on some common principles. Some things make sense to divide by geography but plenty of state and county lines should be redrawn to represent the USA as it is now, not what it was 100-200 years ago.
