I got invited this year and made a sad resolution last Christmas that I wouldn’t spend this Christmas alone. But it’s not a resolution worth dying over. I'm thinking acceptable to medium-dumb. Very good that you're driving and not flying, semi-bad that you're not just videocalling, bad to very bad about the house. I'm feeling the sad/lonely thing, so I get it, and I'll be driving to separately see my mom/dad like I did for Thanksgiving (15 and 30 minutes away). How active are these five people in the house and how serious are they taking preventative measures? Do they all work at home? Do you trust them enough to believe what they say about the measures they're taking? Will they/you get tested beforehand? Is that more like a household of 5 people, or five households of one person? And do you have family that you could potentially spread to? Woofer posted:what are the odds of travel prices across the board skyrocketing after a mass produced vaccine gets distributed? Are airlines going to claim how broke they are and lay a bunch of people off right before the biggest rush for tickets in probably our lifetime? I really don't know. The vaccine rollout will be slow and there probably won't be a magic date when everyone gets good again, until primarily summer. There will be an absolute shitpile of demand, but it likely won't be all at once. The airlines will hire back hella people once that happens though.

The NDAA is the closest thing to hallowed ground that there is left (Democrats like functioning government, Republicans like defense spending). Congress responded to the 230/Confederate veto threat by literally just debuting the conferenced bill. Republican Senators are basically saying "not the time/place, you dumb gently caress". Even Rand Paul just put out a "reform 230, not kill 230" statement. The goal of Republicans is to complain about 230 forever and never touch it. Donnie isn't understanding that background. Yeah this is the common thing when it comes to high-profile people and investigations. At one time, they weren't so high-profile, the state really didn't give a poo poo if he lied on his federal tax returns, and he wasn't in charge of an openly-corrupt government. Just the fact that a new Secretary of Treasury will immediately hand over Donnie's tax returns to NYState and Congress (unless stopped by courts) to prove the poo poo in the NYT series is quite a lot. Probably doesn't lead to an Actual Thing, but it enables the Actual Thing to happen. Also, if Donnie does somehow manage to either pardon himself (sketchy) or others, my long-term bet is that he uses campaign / leadership PAC money to pay down his personal debts. I'm almost positive that's a severe legal no-no, and pardons can't cover future activity. I doubt he has the self-control to avoid tapping into the "no touchy" pots of money.
