You might want to show up at the code office panicking and saying you're going as fast as you can. That worked in my favor in 2019 when a new building inspector came to town and wasn't familiar with me yet, they were like ok chill it's not that big a deal and saw my progress and just closed the whole case out. It's when you start screaming and threatening lawsuits and stuff that they play hardball I think, I'm sure they got better poo poo to do than actually gently caress with the poor guy whose living room turned into a garage one night as long as he's not just leaving it that way forever.

You'll be happy to know that they still have that bullshit one way sign halfway down a street in my town, speaking of which. At least it's a bit more visible now because a weed store bought all the abandoned lots next to it and turned them into a nice parking lot and landscaping instead of vast thickets of falling down buildings, chainlink fences, and all-consuming masses of vines.

I think most people believe their car will explode if they put the throttle over half, or use the last 25% of the steering range on either side, or use more than 25% of the available braking force.

I see. Sigh.

Remember that America is loving BIG. Like, I'm from New England and I considered driving to the top of Maine from central Massachusetts to be a very very long drive until last year or so. I had no concept of how large the west coast alone is. We drove 1200 miles last summer, in a straight line, and only crossed 2 state borders. No international borders. We drove 3000 miles last fall and didn't even make it from coast to coast, just within 50-100 miles of each coast. The length of Scotland right from drummore to baltasound including water is about the same as the width of Montana. Our drive from central mass to Seattle Washington area was 3.5 days of near continuous driving without stopping for anything but sleep, food, and fuel.

Hopefully you realize this already, but I live here and I didn't truly conceptualize how much of a trip it is, and far too many tourists from other countries make lofty plans only to find out that their itinerary is 15 straight days of driving that they intended to fit into a 5 day trip with sightseeing.

Those aren't cell antennas - cell antennas are only a few inches long due to the wavelength. Those all look like 2m or 70cm band antennas at the most, while it looks like Australia cell providers use 700MHz or higher which is a wavelength of 43cm, so you'd expect a whip antenna of around 11cm for quarter wave or 27cm for 5/8 wave.

I haven't seen one torn apart but I assume they are essentially a cell band antenna on the end of a long fiberglass stick.

Part of that is just the physics of a round object with good traction vs a thing colliding with it. The car rides up on top of it easily because it has forward momentum and the bumper gets grabbed well by the sticky tire rubber (which is moving upward at the back since the tire is also rolling forward), then the car pretty much rolls right over the top, when the CG goes past the tire it nose dives and the bumper digs into the road but the car still has forward momentum so it pole vaults and rolls a few times.

This is also why open wheel racing collisions are so spectacular. Front of tire moving down at road speed meets back of other cars tire moving up at road speed, car gets yeeted into the stratosphere.

That and the nose of the car sloping back not forward from close enough to the ground that the tire skips up over instead of rolling under, yeah.

*watches someone pull out of stop and go traffic into what looks like an HOV lane that's still moving quickly*

*Watches them get absolutely pounded in the rear end by a car*

You know what I should do now? Pull into this HOV lane slowly, then park! Maybe we can get 4 cars wrecked instead of two!

Pros of being a boomer with no seatbelts and getting "thrown clear of the accident": you are not in the accident
Cons: there wouldn't have been an accident if you were still in the car

I don't often advocate for more summary police roadside violence but there are only two things they should have done here. One is immediately PIT that loving thing after the second intentional sideswipe of a motorist out minding their own business, because they're very obviously trying to cause a serious enough accident to cause the police to break off pursuit and tend to the people they hurt. Which is unconscionable, if you're gonna be a lunatic in a car that's one thing but using innocents as pawns in your game means I don't really give a drat if the police put you sideways into a bridge abutment to stop it.

The second is get a helicopter on it and immediately break off pursuit, grab the idiot once he thinks he's safe and goes to hide somewhere for a while. He's only running because he knows you're chasing him. Probably caused a million dollars in damages there by pursuing this fucker.

They basically did the worst possible thing, drag it out and let him continue his dangerous behavior as long as possible.

The funniest part of this is it's just 2500 owners, like apparently 1500 and 3500 owners are better or something.

Also, if you combine the Silverado and Sierra, you get 6.03%, handily beating out the Dodge 2500. I wonder what the Dodge RAM 1500+2500+3500 stats would look like? Who is the true king of road sodas?
