This was really fun, and featured guys I've basically never seen before who all really impressed in-ring. There was a really nice diversity in size that changed up how and what they could (or should) do to each other and overall it just came together in a great package: really, really great as an opener to the show.

HM: The All-Star Battle Royal - Hana Kimura Memorial Show 5/23

This was completely over the top and ludicrous and stupid and I loved every second of it, and it had the perfect winner. So many incredible wrestlers in this, so many fantastic little stories and interactions.

MOTYC: Kagetsu, Hazuki, Konami, & Death Yama-san vs. ASUKA, Syuri, Natsupoi, & Mio Momono - Hana Kimura Memorial Show 5/23

The emotional background and the circumstances that lead to the match even happening at all lifts this up just that little bit higher than an HM, but the wrestling was also drat good and holy poo poo Kagetsu hasn't lost a step since she her retirement. So many cool spots/moments it does make it feel like this could be the start of further rivalries or developments, and while that probably won't happen given the unique circumstances, it's a match well worth going out of your way to see.

MOTYC: Kagetsu vs. ASUKA in an impromptu Main Event - Hana Kimura Memorial Show 5/23

Out of nowhere ASUKA challenged Kagetsu to a singles match, the retired Kagetsu accepted, they asked Hana's mother for permission and for the approval of the Korakuen crowd, got both, and then proceeded to have a fantastic match that absolutely nobody was expecting or could have dreamed of. Amazing stuff.

Absolutely nth'ed.

- Every so often Yone reminds you he's a double hard old bastard, just absorbing the sickest shots. Aggression were their usual great selves until a shocking betrayal, loving Kitamiya
Takashi Sugiura (c) vs Kazushi Sakuraba - GHC National Championship
- loving love these two. A couple of old dudes who are best friends but won't let let that stop them hurting each other. Also Sakuraba did a loving plancha, the mad lad. Really enjoyed it until it ended pretty abruptly

Finally had time to finish the show and nth'ing all of these.

Nodoka Tenma, Moka Miyamoto and Shoko Nakajima vs DayDream (Miu Watanabe and Rika Tatsumi) and Yuki Arai
- This was absolutely magic, Nodoka Tenma is as good a comedy wrestler as anyone on the planet in addition to being real strong. She was only a small part of this though, DayDream Idol brought the combo tech and Moka broght that killer instinct. Just incredible fun all around with an unexpectantly tense ending after the lightheartedness that preceeded it

Mirai Maiumi vs Mizuki
- Turns out house show Mirai still has some fight in her, and Mizuki is no less tricksy just because her partner in crime is on the other side of the world

- Kiryu was the standout for her team, but everyone was good here. Just a real fun match all around

- Shenanigans abound, Bi-gun are an absolute delight every time they come to TJPW

Magical Sugar Rabbits (Yuka Sakazaki and Mizuki), Pom Harajuku and Nao Kakuta vs Aja Kong, Marika Kobashi, Rika Tatsumi and Raku
- Kong must have so much fun doing guest spots here

Maki Itoh vs Shoko Nakajima
- First 15 minutes were solid if uninspiring, but really picked up after the duelling forearms and had a really good ending, though not at the level of the two semis yesterday

Another awesome card, super entertaining the whole way down

- Because the division is a clusterfuck there was always the chance that Stinger could lose their first defence after a 14 day reign so there was a contant tension for the last few minutes. Aleja is a great addition to Kongoh and contrasts well with Tadasuke's smashmouth style and although not as good as Kongoh/MnS from last month this was still a great showcase for the Jr Heavyweights

Masato Tanaka (c) vs Takashi Sugiura (c) - ZERO1 Heavyweight Title and GHC National Titles on the line
- Two old dudes and former tag partners beat the hell out of each other in increasingly violent ways. Very enjoyable, but it really could have gone 15 minutes less and I would have been just as happy

- Deathmatch legend Jun Kasai pays a visit to Super Hardcore Shunma, it goes about as well as you'd expect. These loving lunatics made such a goddamn mess of the ring with their bullshit

DAMNATION (Tetsuya Endo, Soma Takao, and Yuji Hino) (c) vs Eruption (Kazusada Higuchi, Yukio Sakaguchi, and Saki Akai) - KO-D 6-Man Tag Team Championship
- Saki Akai absolutely rules, and Yuji Hino is such a loving midgame boss. That beefy fucker does so much by doing so little

Yuki Ueno (c) vs Daisuke Sasaki - DDT Universal Championship
- Ueno is a loving lunatic, and Mad Paulie might in fact be too mad

Jun Akiyama (c) vs Konosuke Takeshita - KO-D Openweight Championship
- Uncle Jun remains one of the best old men in wrestling, and Takeshita is an absolute star. What a way to end the show, this was a war

HARASHIMA, Naomi Yoshimura, Yusuke Okada, Reimu Imai, and El Unicorn vs Yuji Okabayashi, TAMURA, Yuki Iino, Mizuki Watase, and Illusion
- This match was a ton of fun, both Unicorn and Illusion looked good in their debuts (and considering their ages (13 and 18) that's real impressive). Highlight was the incredibly convoluted suplex spot that has to be seen to be believed but basically the whole match was giffable

This was the greatest show in the history of our sport. gently caress I love DDT

- A old dude and a young dude clatter the poo poo out of each other. Mocchy's kicks sound so good in an empty arena, and Inaba is no slouch in that department either

Kaito Kiyomiya vs Manabu Soya
- First half was solid if uninteresting, but I really woke up after they starting elbow smashing each other. Not sold on Kaito's new attire but hopefully it means he's going somewhere this N-1

Four solid matches here, although nothing sniffed the quality of the G1 a few hours ago

- I could watch Katsu kick people all day, it just sounds so great in the studio they're using. Some of the strike battles they had here were positively delightful, and Suzuki looked a threat throwing elbows of his own.

Kenoh vs Daiki Inaba
- I thought this fuckin ruled, just two guys beating the absolute crap out of each other

Another solid night that was hurt by the no crowd, even the Mutoh match had it's moments before devolving into a 2021 Keiji Mutoh match

- A week ago Katsu got the absolute poo poo beaten out of him to win the N-1. Now he has to challenge one of the modern greats, who preceeds to beat the poo poo out of him. Both these guys are great strikers, and although the strike battles were more theatrical than the sheer brutality of Kenoh/Katsu last week it was no less horrifying

Stinger (Yoshinari Ogawa and Seiki Yoshioka) vs Perros del Mal de Japon (YO-HEY and Kotaro Suzuki)
- I really love Seiki Yoshioka, his kicks consistently sound so amazing. Especially when said kick is meeting Yo-Hey's face at mach speed. Short but instense

Kaito Kiyomiya and Kenoh vs Kazushi Sakuraba and Keiji Mutoh
- This was a real fun match after the junior division decided to revert back to their usual bullshit. Sakuraba is an absolute treasure, man's got great comedy instincts

Finally got around to watching it last night and nth to all of those.
