So much we're thinking of buying a second as it's just so bloody good at turning ingredients into insanely good food with very little effort and time. If you want a super solid curry recipe try this one. https://www.pressurecookrecipes.com/instant-pot-butter-chicken/ Also try everything on that site. It hasn't let me down once.

Ah the joyful feeling of complete political disenfranchisement. If I didn't like you lot so much I'd be very tempted to just disengage entirely and just read Scifi books for a year. Wonder if we could convince the SNP to expand southwards and run in the North. Though I'm sure they are also entirely awful if I looked at them any closer than just what I see in the thread.

I'm still impressed at how many people are defending him. Maybe this is the governance they want. Tories for infinity, enriching themselves with the faint hope that they too can tory a little someday. Then an opposition that basically agrees with the same policies but does a little less torying. In the name of balance it comes along for 4 years every 20 and doesn't outstay its welcome.

Still loving funny that the tories are probably going to outflank Labour from the left. While Labour just makes a giant effigy to Tony Blair and wanks themselves into a coma over it.

My dad and his friends used to refer to women's vaginas as cunts in most of their gross old man style jokes. It was definitely objectified and sexist in that context. When I moved to America 10 years ago and used it at work there to refer to one of my friends as a "bit of a oval office" you could hear a penny drop, and a colleague said "You used the c-word!!!!" it was explained that it had far worse connotations in the USA, I apologised and stopped using it. No harm done. Fast forward 10 years, we're far more globalised, and it honestly feels like it should be consigned to the annals of history along with "retard" and "fag" . Ugh, I feel gross even typing those in this context. Yes, it's an easy way out to refer to tories. However I'll just settle for calling them what they are. Evil Assholes. We all have an rear end in a top hat after all. Why bring gendered insults into it in 2021? There's so many more creative ways to refer to them. Fucktrumpets, poo poo pouches etc etc.

forkboy84 posted:Yes, but none of them are nearly as potent as oval office. Fucktrumpet is a comedy term. oval office is vicious. And not just in meaning but in sound. Fair. And I cede the point that the constructions of these words are kinda silly. I'm just uncomfy with they use of oval office myself, mostly due to looking back on my racist and sexist tory father. Hell my wife is American and she uses it all the time but she's half Irish and swears like a damned sailor. Either way I don't want to police others' language. Kier is almost deserving of it lately though. Business focused "labour" party my arse.

Yeah but I personally don't want to start policing others as honestly I don't really belive in myself strongly outside the realm of making fun video game systems enough to stand up for much in a soapboxy way. It's why I like this thread. It's nice to be challenged on stuff and it's why I try to post rather than hide because it's a safe space while at the same time a place where you all won't hesitate to call me out if I say something stupid. When I found out about the labour leaks and what the labour right did in 2017 the term "loving cunts" floated immediately to the surface. I still think that, however I'm not going to say it. Everyone else can happily say it though but I'm not about to start a debate on it. It is an interesting one to think about but in the end I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Unsure about appropriate for a 10 year old but I'd totally have enjoyed stuff like Thought slime, hbomberguy, Jack Saint, Jim sterling etc age 10 and thought I was being edgy and getting away with watching 'mature' content or some poo poo. Could also recommend some politically neutral "entertainment that kids seem to like" channels from people who are (seemingly) decent. My big brother has always loved chocolate oranges. His daughter made him a valentines gift of one today but since they couldn't go out she made him one herself. It amused me so I share. Happy valentines day goons. Hope you all have a better day than the random person who entered their address wrong and had a large beef brisket, 2 packs of bacon 4 packs of beef stock, a bottle of wine, a load of fresh herbs and some caramel shortbread accidentally delivered to our front door. Hopefully they figure it out and come back as there's no contact info and the delivery driver was already driving away as I opened the door. Called the company and it went straight to voicemail. Emailed them too going hey! Uh. What.

You know I do wonder about the whole raging of old people about "doing Britain down" and being proud of the empire and our history stuff. I've never bought into it because I grew up with the Internet and made as many friends across the world from various other cultures as I did in real life. I find the idea of being proud of Britain screwing people over and "one upping the forrins" appalling as these are my friends. They're not some nameless terror over the hills coming to steal my resources. I felt the same about us with the vaccine supply. Vaguely sick and not really surprised that the one thing we're good at is screwing someone else over. Especially if they're a minority from another country. Is it just as simple as the Internet divide? Unfettered access as a kid to talk to other people across the world then as a result feeling comfortable enough to go live abroad for a decade as an adult. Versus your standard tory voter, never viewing other countries or classes of people as anything but a needy scrounging set of others who would take all your poo poo if they could.

I really miss German healthcare. Mostly because every private practice was available and wait times were practically nothing. Thanks to the thread a month or so ago I started investigating the possibility that i have ADHD. I talked to a private doctor through work (we get 6 free consults a year) and he said "hmm, sounds like it." wrote me a referral and it cost me a tenner. Rang my GP and they said yeah you'll have to talk to a specialist but we don't recommend it as the wait times are 12 to 18 months. Can you afford private? So I paid for private out of pocket because gently caress continuing like this. £550 for an assessment (moderate combination type! Yay) £250 for each follow up (up to 6 of which might be needed depending on how I adjust to medication) £unknown for the blood and ekg tests I need to get meds and £50-100 a month for medication depending on dosage. It's frankly eye watering. In each eu country where I had to live with the wife and had no insurance til all the paperwork cleared for a few months it was significantly cheaper and people were absolutely horrified at the cost because all medication should be free. With pharmacists insisting we kept receipts and paying us back later. In Germany wait times were stupid short and if you didn't like it, you went to a different doctor. Netherlands was a bit different and more restrictive but still stupid fast and Spain we were on their NHS equivalent which felt more like queuing at a meat counter with a ticket to see a doc but worked really well... As long as you didn't try to ring them, ever.

I spent valentines day cooking, then we curled up on the sofa and read about the bubonic plague together and drank chambord. A good day. P.S. If you want to go on holiday, fine. I don't and won't. You're a twat if you actually book one this year and I will laugh at you but gently caress I don't blame people for *wanting* to. Holidays are awesome and everyone should go explore other cultures as much as they can. Just... Don't right now? Please?

The tories are going to outflank the gently caress out of Labour from the left with the budget. Yeah its not going to be things that help marginalised people but I guarantee we'll get a shitload of new shiny things up and down the country and probably a loving bridge. They're going to absolutely steamroll for the next decade as nobody really gives a poo poo about them breaking the law, lying and enriching themselves and their mates as the general public thinks Labour would be the same but shitter and honestly I agree with them after seeing the last year. They are not idiotic enough to think they can win like this. They're just more than happy to keep their comfortable opposition jobs for the next forever while feeling important and worthwhile.
