Jason (BTN) JT Mary (SB) A4 Nic (BB) 77 Jason raises to $1800 Mary raises to $2900 Nic calls $2100 Jason reraises to $4900 Mary reraises to $7900 Nic folds Jason calls $300 Flop is 34T Mary shoves all in $10800 Jason calls $9700 turn 7, river Q Jason wins with a Q-high diamond flush. they go to hug but apparently Mary has more chips and she stays in and busts out sometime later with pocket 5s the footage from when Jason makes the baby sounds was 8 minutes of TV show time, which means there was a much longer time in passing between when he made baby sounds to that actual huge pot. then during the hand she's also seen holding Jason's hand and when she busts out (or think she does) she goes to hug him and calls him "son of a bitch" in a friendly manner. so yeah this post is kinda bogus

So I found some random Mary McCormack fan website that had the clips. Literally the only source of this left on the Internet short of Bravo releasing a 15 year old tv show they probably get very little revenue from. I put it up on YouTube as a unlisted link but I'm guessing sooner or later it'll get taken down. Also I want to clarify, when I said there was 8 minutes of TV show time between his baby noises and the big pot. I actually meant her bust out hand as you can see from the clips, he was doing it during the hand. First one is the actual hand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7oPZPtzYC0 This is her bust out hand: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7If565sZsc Fake Edit: I can't get the clips to play inline, so you'll have to click through to YouTube.

I love my copag four colors for home games but would like a thicker cardstock because my dumb bone hands are bad at shuffling. Anyone know if Bicycle/Hoyle are still making decent looking 4-colors post poker boom? All I can find are the super large print for seniors & looks like tattoo art for collectors ones; I really just want a regular deck in four colors.

Hellmuth! That's pretty loving crazy. All the table talk there and side bets would put me on so much tilt. I guess its "good tv". Maybe they all have pieces of each other and no one really gives much of a poo poo besides collecting the tv appearance fee.

Bill Door posted:I know! I just kinda wanted to know if this is literally 100% a call if Hellmuth doesn't talk. Yeah if you're always folding the 2nd nuts to huge overbets that can be exploited and a solver would have an issue with that. I'm pretty sure Doug was thinking the range he was against was exactly QT before Phil started talking, though the talking definitely didn't help his cause. I think 50% he was gonna fold anyway but Hellmuth put his finger on the balance. And I'm not surprised either because Hellmuth being a jackass to his own detriment should never surprise anyone.

That was a great lay down, I'm sure influenced by Polk's knowledge of Helmuth (and Helmuth talking like a fool), but I’m not so sure it was the correct play in the long run. I cant imagine that the money you save when you are right in these situations makes up for the money you lose when you end up folding the winner. Sets, 2 pair, maybe a broken draw, the same hand, or even just a flat out bluff are all at least possible, and I think it’s more likely that the villain has one of those as him having the 1 hand that beats you.

i think it helps that the raise was huge there was another player, so it makes it harder for phil to have complete air. doug doesn't think phil does this with a set. so given that its hard for phil to be bluffing and he's not bluffing with something like a set. the remaining hands are something like QT, T7, AsTs-AsKs (no AsJs obv), As8s. and he's about 30% to win the hand against the range. i don't think he's worried about the long run EV of folding T7 here. he is obviously not going to fold T7 here often but i think the situation didn't really add up for him and phil just blabbing made him fold. i think there was a chance doug calls if phil stays completely silent even with all the signals. don't get me wrong, what an amazing laydown. i think most people in that situation would gladly call without hesitation. the play was just awful by hellmuth though. if he just raises it a normal amount doug's probably losing a lot more.

love to watch guys who havent seen 90k lifetime post about how they would have played this nosebleed hand better yea man if you fold this at nl100 it's really bad but this is phil hellmuth shoving 95k into 20k instantly and doug polk is better than you

Strong Sauce posted:the play was just awful by hellmuth though. if he just raises it a normal amount doug's probably losing a lot more. yeah if phil raises like 3x, doug probably re-raises on the flop and they get it all in either right there or on any non-spade turn card that doesn't pair the board

I feel like there's certain spots you can pick to get an edge if you say one or two things, but I generally keep it quiet while i'm in a hand. I never really understood people saying, "hey get out of the hand, I got you" or "big hand alert" or some poo poo like that.

But, it's hard to explain to drunk people that folding out of turn actually matters, counting your chip stack while there is 4 people waiting to act matters. Live poker is wild sometimes. Of course, if you're a big tipper and you're dumping cash on the table left and right you can basically do everything wrong in the game and no one will say poo poo. I'm mostly talking about poo poo like trying to gain an informational edge heads-up in a hand. do you all find that it's worth it ?
